Newton is the stage name for the UK firefighter turned pop singer, Billy Myers (born William Myers, 3 June 1967). He is best known as a cover artist, with success in Australia and the United Kingdom. Career In 1994, Newton released their debut single, " Sky High", a cover of the 1975 hit by Jigsaw, which was produced by Mike Stock and Matt Aitken. "Sky High" peaked at number 8 in Australia in April 1995 and was certified gold. Originally a one-off project, this version features vocals by Jigsaw's Des Deyer, and features shots of Dyer in the video. Reception was good and Myers was brought in as vocalist to keep the project active and provide a stable persona. In 1996, Newton released "Sometimes When We Touch", a cover of Dan Hill's hit, which peaked at number 5 in Australia and was also certified gold. It peaked at number 32 in the United Kingdom. Newton Cloud (November 29, 1804 – July 22, 1877) was an American politician and Methodist minister. Cloud was born in Stokes County, North Carolina. He moved to Kentucky with his parents. In 1828, he moved to Morgan County, Illinois and settled in Waverly, Illinois. Cloud served as a Methodist minister and was a farmer. He served in the Illinois House of Representatives from 1830 to 1832, from 1834 to 1836, from 1836 to 1840, from 1842 to 1844, from 1846 to 1848, and from 1871 to 1873. He served as speaker of the house from 1846 to 1848. Cloud served as chief clerk of the Illinois House of Representatives from 1844 to 1846. Newton Isaac Collins Sr. (February 11, 1826 – September 7, 1903) was an African-American freed slave from Alabama who moved to Travis County, Texas, in the 1840s, where he was re-enslaved. After the Emancipation Proclamation, Collins again received his freedom and became a businessman, land owner and community leader in southeastern Travis County. Biography His mother was an African-American slave; his father was their owner, Silas Collins, who manumitted the young Collins at an early age and saw to it that he was educated and apprenticed in carpentry. After his father's death in the 1840s, Collins moved to the area that is now Manor, Texas, where he was re-enslaved by a family named Parsons. In 1854, he married Sarah Elizabeth Harrington, a fellow literate slave on the Parson estate, with whom he eventually had eight children. He studied engineering and mathematics at the Federal University of Paraná in Curitiba and the title of his 1961 Ph.D. dissertation was ''Topological spaces and continuous functions''. Newton Earp
Newton Jasper Earp (October 7, 1837 – December 18, 1928) was an American pioneer born in Kentucky in 1837. He was the eldest child of Nicholas Porter Earp and Abigail Storm. He was the half-brother of Old West lawmen Wyatt, Virgil, and Morgan Earp. He was in the Union army during the Civil War, serving as a part of the 4th Iowa Cavalry, and eventually mustered out with the rank of corporal. Departing the army in 1865 he went to Missouri to farm on the land of his father near Lamar, then lost an election for constable five years later at Lamar. In 1871 he moved to Kansas, near the town of Stearling, Rice County where he was a farmer and pioneer settler, and thence to Garden City, in which town he rose quickly, becoming marshal for some time. He was said to have hunted buffalo in 1873 near Peace, Kansas. He had also migrated to Wyoming and Nevada, probably settling in the towns of Casper and Paradise before moving to California. Major General Sir Newton James Moore, (17 May 1870 – 28 October 1936) was an Australian politician, businessman and army officer. He served as the eighth Premier of Western Australia from 1906 to 1910 and, following service in the First World War, was a member of the House of Commons of the United Kingdom from 1918 to 1932. He was the father of Sir Rodney Moore.
