''news2day'' is an Irish children's television news programme, broadcast weekdays at 4:20pm on RTÉ2. It is 10 to 15 minutes long, with 15 minute recap episodes on Saturdays. It is similar in format to the BBC's ''Newsround''. It is currently presented by Reem El-Hassany and Molly O'Connor. Format The programme is aimed at children between the ages of six and twelve, and is presented in a child-friendly manner, making it easy for children to understand and to gain an interest in the news. They present various topics, which include news, sports, entertainment and lifestyle. In February 2009, to coincide with RTÉ News and Current Affairs receiving a major revamp of a new studio and set, ''news2day'', also received a revamp, with a new computer generated background, new logo, titles, and theme music and also received a new site when RTÉ rebranded ''The Den'' to ''TRTÉ''. Children's News Program
A children's news program is a type of news program that is specifically aimed at children, usually 6–14 years olds, rather than an adult audience. The programme is usually made by the network's news and current affairs department, rather than the children's department. As the programme is aimed at a much younger audience from ordinary adults focused news programme, there are significant differences in the style and make-up of the programme. These are for example: the programme has news stories that children would be interested in, usually avoiding deep political and business news and more dealing with popular cultures such as music and television. RTÉ2
RTÉ2 is an Irish free-to-air television channel operated by public service broadcaster RTÉ. It was launched in 1978 as the Republic of Ireland's second television channel. History In the 1970s, the Irish government considered three options for the introduction of a second television service: the re-transmission of BBC1 Northern Ireland; authorization of an independent commercial service; or charging RTÉ with the establishment of a second national channel. It was the last of these that was finally chosen. The channel—only the second in the Republic—began transmissions at 20:00 on 2 November 1978, opening with a broadcast of a gala ceremony from Cork Opera House. Owing to a technical error, audio from BBC2 was played during the countdown instead of the proper soundtrack. ''Nationwide'' is a television programme shown in Ireland each Monday, Wednesday and Friday evening at 19:00. Produced by RTÉ Cork, and broadcast on RTÉ One for around 30 minutes, it is presented by Anne Cassin and Bláthnaid Ní Chofaigh, after long-serving presenter Mary Kennedy reached RTÉ's retirement age in 2019. ''Nationwide'' focuses on human interest stories and cultural events across the country. Zainab Boladale
Zainab Boladale is a Nigerian-Irish television presenter, reporter, public speaker and content creator. She was the first person of African heritage to work in the RTÉ newsroom. Career Zainab Boladale's first job was at '' Irish Independent'' in 2017. She then went on to become one of the presenters of RTÉ Television's children's programme, ''news2day'', the first person of African heritage to become a news anchor on RTÉ. She remained on that show from 2017 to 2019. From 2019, she moved to '' Nationwide''. Boladale has spoken about her experiences, receiving racist abuse after taking up her position in RTÉ. Nick William Sheridan (born May 21, 1988) is an American football coach and former quarterback who is currently the TE coach for the Washington Huskies. He previously served as the offensive coordinator at Indiana University. He played college football at the University of Michigan. France 24 ( in French) is a French state-owned international news television network based in Paris. Its channels broadcast in French, English, Arabic, and Spanish and are aimed at the overseas market. Based in the Paris suburb of Issy-les-Moulineaux, the service started on 6 December 2006. It is aimed at a worldwide market and is generally broadcast by pay television providers around the world, but additionally, in 2010, France 24 began broadcasting online through its own iPhone and Android apps.
