Koop Arponen
Koop Juho Alexander Arponen (born 20 April 1984 in Lappeenranta, Finland) is a Finnish singer and the winner of the fourth series of the '' Idols'' in 2008. Biography Koop Arponen was born in Lappeenranta, Eastern Finland to a Finnish father and a Dutch mother. When he was two, his family moved to Belgium and to England a few years later where he attended Cheam High School in Cheam, Greater London, between 1995 and 2002. He was elected as Head Boy of the School in 2001, his final year of sixth form. At the age of five he started to play the piano, but quit 6 years later. At the age of 16 he started to play it again and also started to compose music. While doing his national service at the Finnish Army, he learnt to play the guitar. ''Idols'' is a Finnish reality-television singing competition that airs on Nelonen (and formerly also on MTV3 and Sub). It debuted in the summer of 2003, and went on to become one of the most popular shows on Finnish television. Part of the ''Idol'' franchise, it originated from the reality program ''Pop Idol'' created by British entertainment executive Simon Fuller, which was first aired in 2001 in the United Kingdom. The program seeks to discover the best unsigned singer in Finland through a series of nationwide auditions, and the outcomes of the later stages of the competition are determined by public phone voting. The four original judges were music executives Jone Nikula and Asko Kallonen, and songwriter-producers Hannu Korkeamäki and Nanna Mikkonen. Anna Puu (born Anna Puustjärvi; February 3, 1982) is a Finnish singer-songwriter. She placed second in Finland's '' Idols'' 2008 competition. allmusic.com. Retrieved January 7, 2013. Puu's first album, ''Anna Puu'', was released on April 29, 2009, and reached #1. The first single, "C'est la vie", was released in mid-April and reached #1 in Finland. Another single, "Kaunis päivä", reached #6 on the Finnish charts, but the last single "Melankolian riemut" failed to make an impact on the charts. The album has since sold over 60,000 copies.
