43rd Canadian Parliament
The 43rd Canadian Parliament was in session from December 5, 2019, to August 15, 2021, with the membership of its Lower House, the House of Commons of Canada, having been determined by the results of the 2019 federal election held on October 21, 2019. Parliament officially resumed on December 5, 2019, with the election of a new Speaker, Anthony Rota, followed by a Speech from the Throne the following day. Alexandre Boulerice
Alexandre Boulerice (born 1973) is a Canadian politician who has represented the riding of Rosemont—La Petite-Patrie in the House of Commons of Canada as a member of the New Democratic Party (NDP) since the 2011 election. He is currently the NDP's Quebec lieutenant and ethics critic. Boulerice was appointed as the Deputy Leader of the New Democratic Party on March 11, 2019, by party leader Jagmeet Singh. As of the 2019 federal election, Boulerice is the only NDP MP from Quebec and since the 2021 federal election, he is the only NDP MP from any province east of Ontario. Niki Christina Ashton (born September 9, 1982) is a Canadian politician. She is the New Democratic Member of Parliament for the federal electoral district of Churchill—Keewatinook Aski in Manitoba, Canada. She was first elected in the 2008 federal election. Ashton announced her intention to run for the leadership of the federal NDP on March 7, 2017. She placed third in the October 1, 2017 election. Early life Ashton was born in Thompson, Manitoba. Richard Cannings (British Columbia Politician)
Richard J. "Dick" Cannings (born March 31, 1954) is a Canadian biologist, author and politician. He was elected as the South Okanagan—West Kootenay Member of Parliament in the 2015 Canadian federal election for the New Democratic Party, and re-elected in 2019. As a member of the 42nd Canadian Parliament he sponsored three private member's bills: one to promote the use of wood in federal public works projects, one to add various lakes and rivers to ''Navigable Waters Protection Act'', and another to a Minister of Environment to respond to a Committee on the Status of Endangered Wildlife in Canada report. Taylor Bachrach
Taylor Bachrach (born 1978) is a Canadian New Democratic Party politician who was elected to represent the riding of Skeena—Bulkley Valley in the House of Commons of Canada in the 2019 Canadian federal election. Prior to his election in the House of Commons, he served as the mayor of Smithers, British Columbia from 2011 to 2019 and as a municipal councillor in the Village of Telkwa from 2008 to 2011. Jenny Wai Ching Kwan (born 1967) is a Canadian politician who is the member of Parliament (MP) for Vancouver East. A member of the New Democratic Party (NDP), Kwan was elected to the House of Commons in 2015. Don Davies (born January 16, 1963) is a Canadian federal member of Parliament (MP) for the New Democratic Party, representing the riding of Vancouver Kingsway since his election in the 2008 federal election. Leah Gazan (born April 8, 1972) is a Canadian politician who was elected to represent the riding of Winnipeg Centre in the House of Commons of Canada in the 2019 Canadian federal election. Early life Leah Gazan was born in Thompson, Manitoba to Albert and Marjorie Gazan. Gazan is Lakota- Chinese on her mother's side, and Jewish on her father's side. Matthew Green (Canadian Politician)
Matthew Green (born September 10, 1980) is a Canadian politician who was elected to represent the riding of Hamilton Centre in the House of Commons of Canada in the 2019 Canadian federal election, and re-elected in 2021. Early life Green grew up in Hamilton, and received a degree in political science from Acadia University. He later attended McMaster University in Hamilton. Career First elected to the Hamilton City Council in 2014, he led the way for the city to become the first in Ontario to license and regulate payday lending. Daniel Blaikie is a Canadian politician who was elected to represent the riding of Elmwood—Transcona in the House of Commons of Canada in the 2015 Canadian federal election as a member of the New Democratic Party (NDP).
