The Ministry (government department), Department of Transportation is a part of the Government of New Brunswick. It is charged with the maintenance of the provincial highway network and the management of the province's automobile fleet. The department was established in 1967 when Premier of New Brunswick, Premier Louis Robichaud split the Department of Public Works and Highways (New Brunswick), Department of Public Works and Highways. Burtts Corner, New Brunswick
Burtts Corner is a Canadian rural community in Douglas Parish, York County, New Brunswick. It is located on the Keswick River, a tributary of the Saint John River, between the communities of Keswick and Zealand at the intersection of Route 104 and Route 617. History Burtts Corner was originally known as Smiths Corner for J.E. Smith who kept a store at the corner there. In 1819, Benjamin Burtt married Elizabeth Crouse, the daughter of Loyalist Philip Crouse, and they settled six kilometers from the mouth of the Keswick River in Smiths Corner. Their son, Benjamin R. Burtt, opened the first Burtt's Store in the community between 1861 and 1871. In the store's early days, customers would often trade eggs for groceries. Later, he expanded his store and included a post office. In the 1880s the nearby railroad changed from narrow to standard gauge, lowering shipping costs thereby making local timber product sales increase. Route 620 is a long mostly north–south secondary highway in the eastern portion of New Brunswick, Canada. The route starts at Route 107 in Stanley where it travels southwest across the Nashwaak River to Limekiln. In Boyds Corner, the route turns south to run through Tay Creek, Tay Mills, Cardigan, and Hamtown Corner. From here, the route travels past Hurlett, Carleton Lake, and Estey's Bridge. Continuing, the route travels through Royal Road and over the Nashwaak River before running on the east bank. It breaks away from the Nashwaak River as it enters Fredericton, where it is known as ''Royal Road''. It ends at Route 105. Route 104 is a highway in New Brunswick, Canada, running from an intersection with the Trans-Canada Highway near Hartland to an intersection with Route 105 at Mouth of Keswick (near Fredericton), a distance of 83 kilometres. From Hartland, Route 104 follows the Becaguimec Stream to the north traveling east through the communities of Coldstream at the south terminus of Route 570, Lower Windsor at the south terminus of Route 580 before turning south east. The road travels through Carlisle and Cloverdale, the east terminus of Route 575, turning southeast through uninhabited forest land through the villages of Maplewood, Hawkins Corner at Route 585, Millville past the north-east terminus of Route 605.
