''Never Mind the Hosen, Here's Die Roten Rosen'', sometimes ''Never Mind the Hosen, Here's Die Roten Rosen (aus Düsseldorf)'' is the first cover album of the German punk band Die Toten Hosen, released under the pseudonym Die Roten Rosen (The Red Roses). The band covers German schlagers on the album. This is the first DTH album to reach the charts. According to Campino, this album has won the most from the release of remasters (2007), because the impact was initially lost, but regained with remastering. The title and the cover are parodies of Sex Pistols' album ''Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols''. To coincide with the pseudonym, which was used for the first time, the label was changed from ToT 69 to ROT 69 and Totenkopf to Rosenkopf. "Im Wagen vor mir" (''In the car in front of me'') is a humorous song originally performed as a duet by Henry Valentino (whose real name is Hans Blum) and Uschi (later replaced with Daffi Cramer). In the song, Valentino is driving on the autobahn, in the middle of a long trip, and day-dreaming about the woman in the car ahead of him—he wonders what she is like and what it would be like to know her. Meanwhile, the woman becomes increasingly worried about the man in the car behind her, wondering if he might be a policeman or a stalker. The humor arises from the fact that Valentino's character is in a very good mood, day-dreaming and listening to music, with no thought that he might be doing anything wrong, while the woman finally becomes so angry and upset that she exits the freeway before she wants to in order to get him to stop following her. Manfred Schnelldorfer (born 2 May 1943) is a German former figure skater. He is the 1964 Olympic champion, the 1964 World champion, and an eight-time German national champion. Personal life Manfred Schnelldorfer was born on 2 May 1943 in Munich, Bavaria, the son of two figure skating coaches. His father had skated in an ice revue but saw its milieu as a harmful influence. Manfred Schnelldorfer studied architecture at TH-München but put his studies on hold for financial reasons. A resident of Munich, he is married and has two children. Career Competitive Schnelldorfer won his first competition at age eight. He was coached by his parents and skated for the Munich ERC club. Donald Edgar "Gus" Backus (September 12, 1937 – February 21, 2019) was an American singer. He started his career as a member of The Del-Vikings and later became a successful Schlager singer in Germany. Life and career Backus was born on Long Island and started his music career with the Del-Vikings, the first notable doo-wop group with both black and white members which had two ''Billboard'' Hot 100 Top Ten hits. After he was stationed as an Airman in the U.S. Air Force at Wiesbaden Air Base in 1957, Backus had to leave The Del-Vikings and started singing Schlager music in 1960s West Germany. Freddy Quinn (born Franz Eugen Helmut Manfred Nidl; 27 September 1931) is an Austrian singer and actor whose popularity in the German-speaking world soared in the late 1950s and 1960s.
