Never Look Back (Goldfinger Album)
''Never Look Back'' is the eighth studio album by American ska punk band Goldfinger (band), Goldfinger, released on December 4, 2020. It marks the return of original guitarist Charlie Paulson, who joins the previous album's line-up of guitarist/vocalist and founding member John Feldmann, lead guitarist Philip Sneed (Story of the Year), bassist Mike Herrera (MxPx, Mike Herrera's Tumbledown) and drummer Nick Gross. It is also their first album via Feldmann's own Big Noise Records. The album cover features the same woman seen at the cover of Goldfinger (album), their 1996 debut. Goldfinger is an American punk rock and ska punk band from Los Angeles, California, formed in 1994. In their early years the band was considered a contributor to the movement of third-wave ska, a mid-1990s revitalization in the popularity of ska. However, the releases of '' Open Your Eyes'' and '' Disconnection Notice'' saw the band shed most of the ska influence, and they have been more commonly placed in the punk rock genre in later years. Reel Big Fish is an American ska punk band from Orange County, California. The band gained mainstream recognition in the mid-to-late 1990s during the third wave of ska with the release of the gold-certified album ''Turn the Radio Off''. Soon after, the band lost mainstream recognition but gained an underground cult following. As of 2006, the band was no longer signed to a major record label and has since been independent. After numerous line-up changes, frontman Aaron Barrett is the last remaining founding member still performing in the band. ''Stomping Ground'' is Goldfinger's third official album that was released on March 28, 2000. The song "The End of the Day" contains a brief sample from the Dead Kennedys song "Nazi Punks Fuck Off." The album was produced by Tim Palmer and John Feldmann and mixed by Tim Palmer. Release ''Stomping Ground'' was released in March 2000. In May 2000, the band went on tour with Ignite. In March 2001, the band embarked on a tour of Europe. In July and August 2001, the band went a co-headlining tour of the US with Reel Big Fish dubbed The Crouching Fish, Hidden Finger Tour, with support from Zebrahead, Home Grown, Mest, the Movielife and Rx Bandits. ''Hang-Ups'' is the second studio album by American punk rock band Goldfinger released by Mojo Records on September 9, 1997. Many of the album's tracks feature more of a ska sound than their debut. The album's first single "This Lonely Place" was not as successful as "Here in Your Bedroom", a single off their debut album, but it did gain them numerous talk show appearances and spins of the video, which parodies the 1979 film ''Alien''. Like their self-titled debut, the horns on the album are provided by several members of the Orange County ska scene, most notably Dan Regan and Scott Klopfenstein of Reel Big Fish on trombone and trumpet, respectively. The song "Carlita" features Angelo Moore of Fishbone on saxophone and vocals. "Superman" was used in films '' Kingpin'' and ''Meet the Deedles''.
