Neutral Zone Of Junik
The Neutral Zone of Junik (1921–1923) was a neutral demilitarized border area between the Kingdom of Yugoslavia and the Principality of Albania. History Establishment The neutral area was established in November 1921 by the authority of the League of Nations following border disputes between the two countries and the frequent military intrusion from the Yugoslav side since 1918 into the Albanian side as well as continuous skirmish between the Albanian guerrillas and Yugoslavian army. The area included a couple of villages around Junik and the Highlands of Djakovica along the Kosovo border with Albania (back then part of the Prefecture of Kosovo). The zone consisted of the villages Junik, Mulliq/Molić, Batushë/Batusa, Brovinë/Brovina, Ponoshec/Ponosevac, Babaj i Bokës/Babaj Boks, Popoc/Popovc, Shishman/Šišman, and Koshare/Košare. The Albanians of Kosovo ( sq, Shqiptarët e Kosovës, ), also commonly called Kosovo Albanians, Kosovar/Kosovan Albanians or Kosovars/Kosovans, constitute the largest ethnic group in Kosovo. Sadik Rama
Sadik Rama (18791944) was a Kosovo Albanian ''kaçak'' guerrilla fighter who fought against the Serbian annexation of Kosovo in 1912. Following the Ottoman defeat, he continued to participate along Isa Boletini and Bajram Curri in the national revolt of 1913–14 in Llapushe. He joined the ''kaçak'' guerrillas in 1919 with support from the Committee for the National Defence of Kosovo. He fought alongside Azem Bejta during his lifetime. Family Rama was born in Gjurgjevik i Madh ( sr, Veliki Đurđevik), now known as ''Martiras'', located in Klina, Kosovo. He was a distant descendant of the Gjonbalaj brotherhood of Vuthaj of Kelmendi. His son, Ukë Sadiku (Rama) was active against the Italian administration in Kosovo. At the end of the war he was a member of the Albanian National Democratic Movement (LNDSH). Drin River
The Drin (; sq, Drin or ; mk, Дрим, Drim ) is a river in Southern and Southeastern Europe with two distributaries one discharging into the Adriatic Sea and the other one into the Buna River. Its catchment area extends across Albania, Kosovo, Serbia, Greece, Montenegro and North Macedonia. The river and its tributaries form the Gulf of Drin, an ocean basin that encompasses the northern Albanian Adriatic Sea Coast. Nikaj-Mërtur
Nikaj-Mërtur is a region of the Gjakova Highlands of Northern Albania whose territory is synonymous with the historic Albanian tribes of Mërturi and Nikaj. The region of Nikaj-Mërtur is located in the south-east of the Albanian Alps, bordering the Dukagjin highlands and within the former Tropojë District. The region represents the southern extension of the Highlands of Gjakova. Has District
Has District ( sq, Rrethi i Hasit) was one of the was one of the 36 districts of Albania, which were dissolved in July 2000 and replaced by 12 counties. It had a population of 19,842 in 2001, and an area of . It is in the north-east of the country, and its capital was Krumë. Tropojë
Tropojë (; sq-definite, Tropoja) is a municipality in Kukës County, northeastern Albania, within the historical ethnographic region of the Gjakova Highlands. The municipality consists of the administrative units of Bajram Curri, Bujan, Bytyç, Fierzë, Lekbibaj, Llugaj, Margegaj and Tropojë, that became municipal units. The seat of the municipality is the town Bajram Curri. Krumë is a town and a former municipality in the Kukës County, northern Albania. At the 2015 local government reform it became a subdivision and the seat of the municipality Has.
