Neumarkt-Sankt Veit – Landshut Railway
The Neumarkt-Sankt Veit–Landshut railway is a single-tracked, unelectrified Main line (railway), main line in Bavaria in southern Germany. It is operated by SüdostBayernBahn (a subsidiary of Deutsche Bahn). History Construction of the line from Landshut to Neumarkt a. Rott (now Neumarkt-Sankt Veit) was authorised on 1 February 1880 and the 38.88 km long route was opened on 4 October 1883. Initially the permitted speed on the route was just 30 km/h. On 1 June 1889 the railway was designated as a main line and its top speed raised to 50 km/h. Operation In the 2009 timetable 37 passenger trains and 8 goods trains will work the line daily. Regionalbahn trains run generally every hour between Salzburg (every 2 hours), Rosenheim and Landshut. DB Class 628
The DB Class 628 is a twin-car, diesel multiple unit operated by the Deutsche Bahn for local passenger rail services. Design ''(The following description is primarily related to the Class 628.4, and is largely valid for the other variants as well)'' Each coach rests on two twin-axle bogies. Only the bogie at the close-coupled end of the coach is driven. Power transmission from the motor is achieved using a ''Voith'' hydrodynamic transmission system with a converter (''Wandler'') and a T 311r coupling. Up to Class 628, a T 320 double-converter transmission was used. Motor and transmission are suspended elastically under the lightweight coach body. The operating brake is an automatic compressed air KE disc brake with automatic load braking and electronic anti-skid protection. Royal Bavarian State Railways
The Royal Bavarian State Railways (''Königliche Bayerische Staats-Eisenbahnen'' or ''K.Bay.Sts.B.'') was the state railway company for the Kingdom of Bavaria. It was founded in 1844. The organisation grew into the second largest of the German state railways (after that of the Prussian state railways) with a railway network of 8,526 kilometres (including the Palatinate Railway or ''Pfalzbahn'') by the end of the First World War. Geisenhausen
Geisenhausen is a municipality with market town status in the district of Landshut, in Bavaria, Germany. It is situated 14 km southeast of Landshut in the valley of the Kleine Vils. DB Class 218
The DB Class 218 (before 1968 the DB Class V 164) are a class of 4-axle, diesel-hydraulic locomotives acquired by the Deutsche Bundesbahn for use on main and secondary lines for both passenger and freight trains. The class represents the final major revision of the DB V 160 family of locomotives; having the preferred features of the antecedent locomotives, including a hydrodynamic brake, and a single engine providing electrical train heating via a generator as well as tractive power. The class were also the most numerous of the family, providing the backbone of the Deutsche Bundesbahn's main-line diesel locomotive traction from the 1970s up to the reunification of Germany. Burghausen, Altötting
Burghausen is the largest town in the Altötting district of Upper Bavaria in Germany. It is situated on the Salzach river, near the border with Austria.
