Netty Pinna
Netty Pinna (also Anette-Elise Pinna, until 1908 Adler; 28 June 1883 Simuna, Estonia, Simuna, Avanduse Parish – 28 April 1937 Tallinn) was an Estonian actress. In 1908, she studied in Berlin in Emanuel Reicher's theatre courses. In 1903, she started her stage activity at Estonia Theatre. In 1906-1936, she worked (with pauses) also at the Estonia Theatre. She was married to the actor and stage director Paul Pinna. Simuna, Estonia
Simuna is a small borough in Väike-Maarja Parish, Lääne-Viru County, in northeastern Estonia. It had a population of 454 as of 2011. Before 2005 Simuna was the centre of Avanduse Parish which was merged to Väike-Maarja Parish. One of the points of the Struve Geodetic Arc is located in Simuna. Avanduse manor The manor of Avanduse (german: Awandus) is located in Simuna. It was first mentioned in written records in 1494. The present-day manor building was erected in 1679–1684 by master builder Gerd Vorberg from Reval (Tallinn) who had been commissionned by the owner of the Avanduse estate at the time, Gideon von Fock. The building has been significantly rebuilt since then; most recent changes were made by architect Rudolf von Engelhardt in 1890. Admiral and geographer Friedrich von Lütke (1797–1882) was one of the most famous owners of the estate, and a plaque dedicated to him stands on the manor building's wall. Emanuel Reicher
Emanuel Reicher (18 June 1849 – 15 May 1924) was a German actor. He was father to actors Ernst Reicher and Frank Reicher and actress Hedwiga Reicher. After his successful acting debut in Munich in 1873 he obtained a contract with the Residenz Theater in Berlin, where he became known as one of the best German Shakespearean actors. He then took over management of the Theatre school. He played Alfred Allmers in the first performance of Henrik Ibsen's ''Little Eyolf'' at the Deutsches Theatre, Berlin, on January 12, 1895. In 1889 he was one of the founders of the theatre society "Free Stage" (Freie Bühne). In 1907 the actor Curt Goetz studied under him. Reicher was an Esperantist, and in 1908 he appeared, along with his daughter Hedwig, in ''Iphigenie auf Tauris'' by Goethe, at the Esperanto World Congress in Dresden. Estonia Theatre
Estonia Theatre is an historic building in Tallinn, Estonia, which houses the Estonian National Opera and the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra. The original Jugendstil building was designed by Finnish architects Armas Lindgren and Wivi Lönn. It was built as a national effort with the leadership of Estonia society in 1913 and was opened to the public on 24 August. At the time, it was the largest building in Tallinn. The theatre was heavily damaged in the Soviet air raid on Tallinn on 9 March 1944. It was reconstructed in a classical and Stalinist style, and reopened in 1947.In 1946, it served as the home of the newly created Tallinn Ballet School and was the location of the debut of one of the graduates of the school's first class, Helmi Puur. Mait Metsanurk
Mait Metsanurk (born Eduard Hubel, 19 November 1879 – 21 August 1957) was an Estonian writer who led the neo-realist school of Estonian literature. Early years Mait Metsanurk was born as the youngest of eight children in a peasant family in Saare farmstead, Metsanuka (now Tartu Parish), in the Kreis Dorpat of the Governorate of Livonia. He attended elementary school in Orge and a Russian-speaking city school in Tartu. He worked in various positions, first as an office clerk, then as a schoolteacher and from 1906 as a journalist. He is buried at the Metsakalmistu cemetery in Tallinn. Career Mait Metsanurk reached his literary breakthrough in 1908 with his realistic portrayal of Estonian town and country life at the time.
