Netherlands Women's National Volleyball Team
The Netherlands women's national volleyball team is the national volleyball team of the Netherlands. It is governed by the '' Nederlandse Volleybalbond'' (NeVoBo). Following the 1995 European Championship they hosted in Arnhem and finishing fifth at the 1996 Olympics, the Dutch have had moments of success amidst instability, such as the title of the 2007 FIVB World Grand Prix, and a return to the Olympic Games in 2016, where the Netherlands got to fourth place. Nederlandse Volleybalbond
The Dutch Volleyball Association or in (Dutch : Nederlandse Volleybalbond, NeVoBo) is an organisation founded in 1947 to govern the practice of volleyball in the Netherlands. It organises the men's and women's championships, and places the men's and women's national team under its aegis. The NeVoBo joined the FIVB in 1947. The NeVoBo included Steven van de Velde, a convicted child rapist, in their team for the 2024 Paris Olympics. 2023 Women's European Volleyball Championship
The 2023 Women's European Volleyball Championship was the 33rd edition of the Women's European Volleyball Championship, organised by Europe's governing volleyball body, the Confédération Européenne de Volleyball. For the third consecutive time, it was held in four countries: Belgium, Estonia, Germany and Italy. The top three teams of the tournament qualified for the 2025 FIVB Volleyball Women's World Championship as the CEV representative, except Serbia who had already qualified as the 2022 FIVB Volleyball Women's World Championship, defending world champions. It was held at the ''Minor Arena'' of the ''Central Lenin Stadium'' and at the '' Druzhba (Friendship) Multi-Purpose Arena'' of the ''Central Lenin Stadium'', both located at Luzhniki (south-western part of Moscow). Volleyball At The 1964 Summer Olympics
The 1964 Summer Olympics was the first time that volleyball had been held as an Olympic sport. The sport would feature two medals during this games with the men's and women's indoor teams events. In both tournaments, the format was the same with a single round robin between all of the teams that were competing in the tournament. In the men's competition, the Soviet Union took out the gold medal as they won eight out of their nine games with the only loss being in Japan who came third. Finishing behind only on sets difference was Czechoslovakia who had only their single loss against the Soviet Union. In the women's competition, Japan won all five of their games to take the gold medal ahead of the Soviet Union and Poland who claimed silver and bronze respectively. Volleyball At The Summer Olympics
Volleyball has been part of the Summer Olympics program for both men and women consistently since 1964. Brazil, France, the United States and the former Soviet Union are the only teams to win multiple gold medals at the men's tournament since its introduction. The remaining six editions of the Men's Olympic Volleyball Tournament were won each by a different country including Japan, Poland, Netherlands, Russia and the defunct Yugoslavia. The 1996 women's Olympic volleyball tournament was the ninth edition of the event, organised by the world's governing body, the FIVB in conjunction with the International Olympic Committee. It was held from 20 July to 3 August 1996 at the Stegeman Coliseum of The University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia and at the Omni Coliseum in Atlanta, Georgia. 12 teams competed, up from eight in 1992. Volleyball
Volleyball is a team sport in which two teams of six players are separated by a net. Each team tries to score points by grounding a ball on the other team's court under organized rules. It has been a part of the official program of the Summer Olympic Games since Tokyo 1964. Beach volleyball was introduced to the program at the Atlanta 1996 Summer Olympics. The adapted version of volleyball at the Summer Paralympic Games is sitting volleyball. Basic play The complete set of rules is extensive, but play essentially proceeds as follows: a player on one of the teams begins a 'rally' by serving the ball (tossing or releasing it and then hitting it with a hand or arm), from behind the back boundary line of the court, over the net, and into the receiving team's court.
