Netherlands In The Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2012
The Netherlands selected their Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2012 entry through ''Junior Songfestival'', a national selection consisting of eight songs. In the second semi-final, there was a tie between Femke, and Sterre. It was decided Femke would have the second place spot due to the higher points on public vote, with Sterre getting the wildcard, thanks to the internet voters. Before Junior Eurovision ''Junior Songfestival 2012'' The songs were split into two semi-finals. From each semi-final two sentries will qualify for the final based on the decision of adult and child juries as well as televoting. The fifth entry in the final will be chosen by online voting (web wildcard). The Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2012 was the tenth edition of the annual Junior Eurovision Song Contest. It took place at the AFAS Live, Heineken Music Hall in Amsterdam, Netherlands on 1 December 2012. Dutch broadcaster AVRO (broadcaster), AVRO was the host broadcaster for the event. For the second time the Netherlands hosted the contest, after hosting the contest in Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2007, 2007 in Rotterdam. The show was hosted by Kim-Lian, Kim-Lian van der Meij for a second time, this time joined by Ewout Genemans. The motto for the contest was ''"Break The Ice"''. Junior Songfestival
(, ) is a Dutch televised music competition for children, held annually since 2003. It is the children's version of the . The winner of the contest goes on to represent the Netherlands in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest (), an international version of the competition. History The first edition was organised in 2003 by Dutch broadcaster AVRO (which later became AVROTROS). Kids of age 8 through 15 could submit their own original songs, of which nine songs advanced to the televised final. From 2004 until 2015, the candidates also sang a common song that did not compete, and (with the exception of 2006) the show also consisted of two televised semi-finals. Tjeerd Oosterhuis
Tjeerd-Pieter David Oosterhuis (; born 25 December 1971), also known as TJ Oosterhuis, is a Dutch musician, songwriter and producer known internationally for his chart topping work with Madcon, Kelly Rowland and Estelle. His production of Freaky Like Me for Madcon was a number 1 hit Norway. It went four times platinum there and received a gold certification in Germany. He is the son of writer, theologian and former priest Huub Oosterhuis. With his younger sister and singer Trijntje Oosterhuis, Tjeerd formed the mid-1990s band Total Touch. After Total Touch disbanded in 1997 Oosterhuis founded a music production company, DEMP, and produced the album ''Face to Face'' for his wife, Edsilia Rombley, and a solo album for his sister Trijntje. MainStreet (band)
MainStreet was a Dutch boy band. The group consisted of Nils Käller, Daan Zwierink, Owen Playfair and Rein van Duivenboden. The group gained fame by participating in the Junior Songfestival 2012 and quickly became popular in the Netherlands. Their fans are called Mainiacs. History 2011–2013: Forming the band and Junior songfestival Main Street was created in 2011 after Käller, Zwierink, Playfair and van Duivenboden individually auditioned for the first season of The Voice Kids. Because the four boys are from across the Netherlands, it was initially difficult to work together, as they had, in addition to their music, school and other activities that they are doing.
