The Netherlands competed at the 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. 125 competitors, 105 men and 20 women, took part in 57 events in 12 sports. The Dutch Olympic Committee*Dutch Sports Federation, ( nl, Nederlands Olympisch Comité*Nederlandse Sport Federatie) generally abbreviated NOC*NSF, is the overall coordinating Dutch sports organization that also functions as the Dutch National Olympic Committee and National Paralympic Committee. Jan Justus "Jan-Just" Bos (28 July 1939 – 24 March 2003) was a Dutch botanist, television presenter, and rower who competed in the 1960 and 1964 Summer Olympics. Bos (Dutch for "forest") studied forestry at the Wageningen University. While a student in Wageningen, he was the coxwain of the Dutch coxed pair, which was eliminated in the repechage at the 1960 Olympics. Jacob "Jaap" Oudkerk (born 2 August 1937) is a retired cyclist from the Netherlands. He competed in the 4000 m team pursuit at the 1960 and 1964 Summer Olympics and finished in fifth and third place, respectively. He was also active in motor-paced racing. After winning the world championships in the amateurs category in 1964 he turned professional and won three more world championship medals, including a gold in 1969. Gerard Koel (born 16 January 1941) is a retired Dutch cyclist who was active between 1962 and 1973. He won a bronze medal in the 4 km team pursuit at the 1964 Summer Olympics. In 1966 he turned professional and won two six-day races: in Madrid in 1967 and in Amsterdam in 1973, as well as one stage of the Olympia's Tour in 1965. Nationally he earned titles in the sprint (1968 and 1969) and scratch in 1970. Erica Georgina Terpstra (born 26 May 1943) is a retired Dutch politician of the People's Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD).
