Neon (British Band)
Neon were an English new wave band active in the early 1980s. All members went on to have successful careers in other bands, notably Naked Eyes and Tears for Fears. History The band were formed in 1979 in Bath, Somerset by Pete Byrne and Rob Fisher. They were then joined by Neil Taylor and Manny Elias, and then Curt Smith and Roland Orzabal as session musicians. The band's first single, "Making Waves"/"Me I See in You", was released in October 1980 on Byrne and Fisher's own label, 3D Music, followed by "Communication Without Sound"/"Remote Control" in July 1981 on Carrere UK. The band broke up in December 1981. After Neon After the split, Byrne and Fisher formed Naked Eyes and found success with "Always Something There to Remind Me" and " Promises, Promises". Bath, Somerset
Bath () is a city in the Bath and North East Somerset unitary area in the county of Somerset, England, known for and named after its Roman-built baths. At the 2021 Census, the population was 101,557. Bath is in the valley of the River Avon, west of London and southeast of Bristol. The city became a World Heritage Site in 1987, and was later added to the transnational World Heritage Site known as the "Great Spa Towns of Europe" in 2021. Bath is also the largest city and settlement in Somerset. The city became a spa with the Latin name ' ("the waters of Sulis") 60 AD when the Romans built baths and a temple in the valley of the River Avon, although hot springs were known even before then. Bath Abbey was founded in the 7th century and became a religious centre; the building was rebuilt in the 12th and 16th centuries. Neil Taylor (guitarist)
Neil Taylor (born 26 January 1961) is an English guitarist, best known for his long-time affiliation with Robbie Williams and for formerly being a member of Tears for Fears. Career Taylor started playing in local bands in his youth before joining Neon (British band), Neon as a session musician in the early 1980s. During this time he met Curt Smith and Roland Orzabal who, after founding Tears for Fears, asked Taylor to tour with them and play guitar tracks for their second album, ''Songs from the Big Chair'' (1985), and their third ''The Seeds of Love'' (1989). Taylor toured with the band several times between 1983 and 1990 and appears on their live concert videos ''In My Mind's Eye'' (1984) and ''Going to California (Tears for Fears video), Going to California''. "Love Changes (Everything)" is a 1987 single by British pop duo Climie Fisher that gained international success after a re-release in 1988. The song was later covered and released by house music duo Musikk. Songwriters Simon Climie, Dennis Morgan and Rob Fisher received the 1988 Ivor Novello award for Best Song Musically and Lyrically. Climie Fisher were a British pop duo formed by vocalist Simon Climie and former Naked Eyes keyboardist Rob Fisher. "Promises, Promises" was the second hit single for the British new wave group Naked Eyes in 1983. The song went on to become a top-20 hit in the US that October, peaking at number 11 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 singles chart, albeit after it was re-recorded with some lyrics different from the original UK single.
