Nemi (comic Strip)
''Nemi'' is a Norwegian comic strip, written and drawn by Lise Myhre. It made its first appearance in 1997 under the title ''Den svarte siden'' ("the Black Side" or "the Black Page"). At that time, it was a very dark cartoon concerning heavy metal subcultures. Over the years, Myhre has turned it brighter, though she still frequently publishes strips about serious issues, especially in the larger Saturday panels. The strip was renamed ''Nemi'' after its protagonist, a young goth woman. Myhre has also illustrated poems by Edgar Allan Poe and André Bjerke in the strip. Publication Newspapers In the United Kingdom and Ireland, the strip was, until 8 January 2016, printed daily in the ''Metro'' newspaper, after translation into English; background images, and magazines the characters are reading often remain clearly in Norwegian. Willingham served as sole writer for its entirety, with Mark Buckingham penciling more than 110 issues. It relates the comedic activities of the staff and denizens of the eponymous animal sanctuary/rehabilitation clinic. The comic strip launched on March 31, 1997, and ran until December 30, 2001. Roman Dirge (born Roman Elliot; April 29, 1972) is an American comic book writer, artist, and former magician. He is best known as the creator of the comic book series ''Lenore, the Cute Little Dead Girl''. Career Told by his art teachers that he would never make it as an artist due to his crude style, he quit art and became a full-time magician. After a few years, his passion for art overtook him and he created the comic ''Lenore, the Cute Little Dead Girl'' for '' Xenophobe'' magazine. ''Lenore, The Cute Little Dead Girl'' is a black comedy comic series created by Roman Dirge, inspired by the poem " Lenore" by Edgar Allan Poe. Lenore has appeared in several comic books by Dirge. From 1998 to 2007, she featured in her own series published by Slave Labor Graphics. Twenty-six flash-animated shorts were also produced for Sony's ScreenBlast website in 2002.
