Nelonen (football League)
Nelonen or IV divisioona is the fifth level in the Finnish football league system and comprises 159 teams. The IV divisioona was introduced in 1973 and in the mid-1990s became known as the Nelonen (''Number Four'' in English and ''Fyran'' in Swedish). Competition There are 159 clubs in the Nelonen, divided in 14 groups of 9 to 12 teams each representing a geographical area. During the course of a season (starting in April and ending in October) each club normally plays the others twice, once at their home ground and once at that of their opponents. The top team in each Nelonen group is normally promoted to Kolmonen and the two lowest placed teams are normally relegated to the Vitonen. FC Kontu
FC Kontu is a football club from Helsinki, Finland. It serves Kontula in East Helsinki and the immediately surrounding area. The club was formed in 1967 under the name Kontulan Urheilijat (abbreviated KontU), the name being changed in 1994. The men's football first team currently plays in the Kolmonen (Third Division) and their home ground is at the Kontulan liikuntapuisto. The club also run a Ladies team that play at the same level in Women's Football. Background The club was founded in 1967 and has specialised in the sports of football, ice hockey, basketball and bowling during its history. The club has concentrated exclusively on football since 1992. Central Finland
Central Finland ( fi, Keski-Suomi; sv, Mellersta Finland) is a Regions of Finland, region ( / ) in Finland. It borders the regions of Päijät-Häme, Pirkanmaa, South Ostrobothnia, Central Ostrobothnia, North Ostrobothnia, Northern Savonia, North Savo, and Southern Savonia, South Savo. Warkaus JK
Warkauden Jalkapalloklubi (abbreviated Warkaus JK) is a football club from Varkaus in Finland. The club was formed in 2000 and their home ground is at the Varkauden Keskuskenttä. The men's first team currently plays in the Kakkonen (Second Division). The Chairman of Warkaus JK is Jari Räisänen. Background The club was established in 2000 following the amalgamation of the Warkauden Pallo-35 and Varkauden Työväen Palloilijoiden clubs. The new club has now played 10 consecutive seasons in the Kakkonen (Second Division), the third tier of Finnish football from 2001 to the present day. In 2002 the club finished in top position in the West Group but failed to progress in the Promotion Play-offs. Pallo-Kerho 37, also known as PK-37, is a Finnish football club from the city of Iisalmi. The club was founded on 10 October 1937 as a bandy and football club, but later on it also became known for its pesäpallo and ice hockey sections. Nowadays PK-37 concentrates only on football. The club's men's team play at the third highest level of Finnish football, in the Kakkonen. The Club chairman is Mikko Aminoff and the team is managed by Marko 'Pessi' Pesonen. The previous coach was Atik Ismail who has now moved to Jämsänkosken Ilves. Joensuun Palloseura (abbreviated JoPS) is a football club from Joensuu, Finland. JoPS is Joensuu's oldest football club having been formed in 1929. The club has competed in the second tier of Finnish football over 6 seasons, the last time being in 1968. JoPS currently plays in the Kolmonen section that covers Eastern and Central Finland. History JoPS has covered the sports of bandy, pesäpallo, football, and tennis. The football club officially began operations in 1930, the same year as the Karelian District Football Association was founded. In the 1940s, JoPS was the leading bandy club of North Karelia. The team rose to the Premier Division in 1940 and remained in the highest division until 1949 without winning any medals. Eastern Finland
Eastern Finland ( fi, Itä-Suomen lääni, sv, Östra Finlands län) was a province of Finland from 1997 to 2009. It bordered the provinces of Oulu, Western Finland and Southern Finland. Kotkan Työväen Palloilijat
Kotkan Työväen Palloilijat (abbreviated as KTP) is a Finnish football club based in Kotka, Finland, and currently competing in Finland's premier league, Veikkausliiga. The club was founded in 1927 and its colours are green and white. Immediately after its formation the club joined the Finnish Workers' Sports Federation, to which it still belongs. KTP play its home matches at Arto Tolsa Areena. History KTP had a long football traditions centred on its golden age in the early 1950s when the club won two Finnish championships in 1951 and 1952. They also won the Finnish Cup four times, the most recent occasion being in 1980. IF Sibbo-Vargarna (abbreviated SibboV) is a sports club from Sipoo, Finland specialising in football, cycling, athletics, volleyball, skiing, orienteering, dancing, and fitness. The club was formed in 1928 and its main home ground is at the Nikkilän keskusnurmi. The men's football first team currently plays in the Kolmonen (Third Division). Background SibboV has spent many seasons in the lower divisions of the Finnish football league. For much of the last decade the club has oscillated between the Nelonen (Fourth Division) and the Kolmonen (Third Division). They have enjoyed a "yo-yo" existence with promotions from the Nelonen in 2001, 2005 and 2009 and immediate relegations from the Kolmonen in 2002 and 2006. HooGee
HooGee or Haukilahden Pallo – Gäddviks Boll HooGee is a Finnish football club established in 1980. The club is based in the district of Haukilahti in the city of Espoo and specialises in youth football. HooGee draws its membership base mainly from the Westend- Haukilahti- Niittykumpu-Tontunmäki area but others are also welcome. The Club runs several junior teams and aims to provide boys and girls from Espoo with the opportunity to practice football. HooGee participates in the city of Espoo and the Uusimaa district's leagues, tournaments, and organises football schools, camps and various theme days. Nummelan Palloseura
Nummela Palloseura (abbreviated NuPS) is a sports club from Nummela in Vihti, Finland. The club was formed in 1964 and since the outset football has been the dominant sport. NuPS runs around 30 teams with men's, women's and junior sections. In addition the club runs leagues and tournaments, outside activities for infants, developmental activities for disabled children and general fitness football for players of all ages. In 2008 the club had around 625 registered players and in 2009 this increased to 700 players (750 players when peripheral football activities are included). In total NuPS's teams play around 700 games every year.
