Saratoga, Nebraska
Saratoga Springs, Nebraska Territory, or Saratoga, was a boom and bust town founded in 1856 that thrived for several years. During its short period of influence the town grew quickly, outpacing other local settlements in the area including Omaha and Florence, and briefly considered as a candidate for the Nebraska Territorial capitol. Millard, Nebraska
Millard is a former town and current neighborhood in southwest Omaha, Nebraska. The original downtown area of Millard (often referred to as 'Old Millard') is near the intersection of Millard Avenue and L Street. History Millard was laid out in 1870 by Ezra Millard, and named for him. A post office was established in Millard in 1873, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1967. The town was incorporated in 1885. After lengthy legal fights, the town of Millard was annexed by the city of Omaha in 1971. There also were attempts through both the state legislature and the court system to annex Millard’s schools into the Omaha Public Schools, but the Millard Public Schools remained independent. Florence, Nebraska
Florence was a historic municipality in Nebraska. Founded in 1854, the Nebraska Territory Legislature first incorporated it as a town in 1855 and then incorporated it as a city in 1857. In 1917, it was annexed by the City of Omaha and ceased to exist as an independent municipality. Since then it has been a neighborhood located in North Omaha. Cutler's Park
Cutler's Park was a temporary town established in the Indian Territory across the Missouri River from Kanesville, Iowa in 1846. It was the first town in the future state of Nebraska. History Established by 2,500 pioneers from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) as they were making their way westward to the Rocky Mountains, Cutler's Park was briefly the headquarters camp of the church. It was created in August 1846 and covered the area surrounding what is now the intersection of Mormon Bridge Road and Young Street in Omaha, Nebraska. Cutler's Park proved to be Nebraska's first and briefest planned community. The Territory of Nebraska was an organized incorporated territory of the United States that existed from May 30, 1854, until March 1, 1867, when the final extent of the territory was admitted to the Union as the state of Nebraska.
