National Unions Of Students In Europe
The European Students' Union (ESU) is the umbrella organisation of 45 national unions of students from 40 countries, representing almost 20 million students. A consultative member of the Bologna Process, ESU is also a full member of the European Youth Forum (YFJ). History On 17 October 1982, seven National Unions of Students (NUSes) from the United Kingdom, Sweden, Iceland, France, Denmark, Norway and Austria established the Western European Students Information Bureau (WESIB) at a gathering in Stockholm. In February 1990, WESIB dropped the "W" to become the European Student Information Bureau (ESIB) following the political upheaval in Europe at the time. In 1992 the name was changed yet again into the National Union of Students in Europe. This reflected the recognition of the changing mission of ESIB from being a pure information-sharing organisation into a political organisation that represented the views of students in European institutions. Federation Of Estonian Student Unions
The Federation of Estonian Student Unions ( et, Eesti Üliõpilaskondade Liit, EÜL) is an umbrella organization currently represents over 95% of Estonian students. It was founded on 23 November 1991, shortly after Estonia regained independence. EÜL works closely together with Riigikogu (the parliament), the government, different ministries, higher education institutions and other partners. EÜL is also a leading NGO in Estonia and sometimes also represents students in schools, youth in general or just NGOs in different committees. EÜL is recognised as a partner by the Ministry of Education and Research. EÜL is a member of European Students' Union. Structure EÜL's main decision body is the EÜL General Meeting where all member student bodies are represented. The aim of the Student Union of Latvia (LSA, lv, Latvijas Studentu apvienība) is to represent Latvia's students, and to work for the observance of their rights and interests at a national and international level. Structure The principal decision–making body of the LSA is the Congress that develops conceptual action plans, approves finances as well as elects the president and vice-president.
