National Front (French Resistance)
The National Front (french: Front national or ''Front national de l'indépendance de la France'') was a World War II French Resistance movement created to unite all of the Resistance Organizations together to fight the Nazi occupation forces and Vichy France under Marshall Pétain. Founded in 1941 in Paris by Jacques Duclos, André Pican and Pierre Villon, along with their wives all members of the French Communist Party (PCF) they felt that to be a vital force against the Nazis, the collaborationists and the informers that all of the Resistance movements, no matter their party or religion (Jewish or Catholic) had to band together. Its name was inspired by the Popular Front, a left-wing coalition which governed France from 1936 to 1938. The National Popular Resistance Front or National People's Resistance Front (Spanish: ''Frente Nacional de Resistencia Popular'' or FNRP), frequently referred to as the National Resistance Front, is a wide coalition of Honduran grassroots organisations and political parties and movements that aims to restore elected President Manuel Zelaya and hold a constituent assembly to draw up a new constitution. The Front originated as a popular social movement which used massive civil disobedience to support the restoration of Zelaya in replacement of the ''de facto'' President Roberto Micheletti, whose government was perceived as a dictatorship in existence since 28 June 2009, the 2009 Honduran coup d'état. The National Resistance Front of Afghanistan (NRF), also known as the Second Resistance, is a military alliance of former Northern Alliance members and other anti-Taliban fighters loyal to the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. The founder and president of NRF is Ahmad Massoud. When the Taliban captured Afghanistan on 15 August 2021, former first vice president Amrullah Saleh, citing provisions of the 2004 Constitution, declared himself the caretaker president of Afghanistan and announced the republican resistance against the Taliban. Saleh's claim to the presidency was endorsed by Ahmad Massoud, as well as by former Afghan Minister of Defence Bismillah Mohammadi, and the Afghan embassy in Tajikistan including its ambassador Mohammad Zahir Aghbar. The National Resistance Front of São Tomé and Príncipe (FRNSTP) was a political party founded in 1981 by São Tomé and Príncipe, São Toméan exiles who opposed the Socialism, socialist policies of the One-party state, single party Movement for the Liberation of São Tomé and Príncipe (MLSTP) government, and sought its overthrow. Based in Gabon under the leadership of Carlos da Graça, the movement was expelled from the country in 1986 as relations between Gabon and São Tomé improved. Carlos da Graça ceased to be a member and remained in Gabon, before returning to São Tomé and becoming List of Foreign Ministers of São Tomé and Príncipe, foreign minister. A popular front is a term for a political coalition which is commonly made up of parties ranging ideologically from liberalism to communism, historically for the purpose of opposing the rise of fascism or far-right politics in general.
