National Register Of Historic Places
The National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) is the United States federal government's official list of districts, sites, buildings, structures and objects deemed worthy of preservation for their historical significance or "great artistic value". A property listed in the National Register, or located within a National Register Historic District, may qualify for tax incentives derived from the total value of expenses incurred in preserving the property. The passage of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) in 1966 established the National Register and the process for adding properties to it. Of the more than one and a half million properties on the National Register, 95,000 are listed individually. The remainder are contributing resources within historic districts. National Park Service rustic – sometimes colloquially called Parkitecture – is a style of architecture that developed in the early and middle 20th century in the United States National Park Service (NPS) through its efforts to create buildings that harmonized with the natural environment. Since its founding in 1916, the NPS sought to design and build visitor facilities without visually interrupting the natural or historic surroundings. The early results were characterized by intensive use of hand labor and a rejection of the regularity and symmetry of the industrial world, reflecting connections with the Arts and Crafts movement and American Picturesque architecture. Civilian Conservation Corps
The Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) was a voluntary government work relief program that ran from 1933 to 1942 in the United States for unemployed, unmarried men ages 18–25 and eventually expanded to ages 17–28. The CCC was a major part of President Franklin D. Roosevelt's New Deal that supplied manual labor jobs related to the conservation and development of natural resources in rural lands owned by federal, state, and local governments. The CCC was designed to supply jobs for young men and to relieve families who had difficulty finding jobs during the Great Depression in the United States Robert Fechner was the first director of this agency, succeeded by James McEntee following Fechner's death. Kabetogama, Minnesota
Kabetogama ( ) is an unincorporated community in Kabetogama Township, Saint Louis County, Minnesota, United States, located within the Kabetogama State Forest. The community is located 27 miles southeast of International Falls on Saint Louis County Roads 122 and 123. Kabetogama is located 49 miles north of Cook. U.S. Highway 53 is nearby. Voyageurs National Park is also in the vicinity. The boundary line between Saint Louis and Koochiching counties is also nearby. Kabetogama Lake
Kabetogama Lake or Lake Kabetogama ( ) is a clear lake in northern St. Louis County, Minnesota. This body of water lies within Voyageurs National Park, and with a surface area of , it is one of the state's 10 largest inland lakes. Kabetogama Lake drains into Namakan Lake to the east, and roughly parallels the near-by Rainy Lake. The Ojibwe name ''Gaa-biitoogamaag-zaaga'igan'' translates to “the lake that lies parallel with another lake” or “the lake that doubles with another lake” or "the place where there is one lake after another." French fur trappers similarly referred to Kabetogama as ''Travere'' or ''Travers'', meaning “alongside.” A thin peninsula is all that separates the two lakes. Crane Lake, Minnesota
Crane Lake is an unincorporated community in Crane Lake Township, Saint Louis County, Minnesota, United States; located within the Kabetogama State Forest. The community is located 27 miles northeast of Orr, along Saint Louis County Roads 23 and 24. Crane Lake is located 45 miles northeast of Cook. The northern terminus of County Road 24 is at Crane Lake.
