National Prize For Literature (Paraguay)
The National Prize for Literature (''Premio Nacional de Literatura'') is awarded biennially, in odd-numbered years, by the , to "books in the genres of poetry, narrative, essay, or theater, written in Spanish or Guaraní, by Paraguayan or foreign authors with at least five years of residence in Paraguay." It was established in 1990 by Law No. 97/90, which also created the National Prize for Science, awarded in even-numbered years. This was updated by Law No. 1149 in 1997. Its jury is composed of "five people of recognized experience, suitability, and prestige in literature". Winners receive a sum equivalent to 50 times the monthly minimum wage. , this was ₲114,466,200 (US$). Susy Delgado
Susy Delgado (born 20 December 1949) is a Paraguayan poet and writer in Spanish and Guarani. Life Delgado was born in San Lorenzo in Paraguay in 1949. After obtaining a degree in Sociology in Madrid, Delgado worked as a journalist. She won international recognition in 1985 as a finalist for a Spanish poetry competition in Madrid. In 2017, she won Paraguay's National Prize for Literature, for her poem ''Ybytu yma''. Her Spanish poetry includes: ''Some lost tremor'' (1986), ''The Court of the Elves''. The latter took the Curupayty Radio Award in 1991 and the Municipal Board Award in 1992. In 2001 she had her first prose book published. Maybell Lebron
Maybell Lebron (born 23 September 1923) is an Argentine-born writer of short stories, poems, and novels, based in Paraguay. She is the founder of Associated Paraguayan Writers, and has won Paraguay's National Prize for Literature. Early life Maybell Lebron was born in Córdoba, Argentina in 1923, and has lived in Paraguay since 1930. She married Doctor Juan S. Netto, and they had three children. She started writing once her children were older, and as a writer she is self-taught. Literary career Lebron's first book was the poetry collection ''Puente a la luz'', published by Editorial Arandura. This was followed by the short story books ''Memoria sin tiempo'' and ''Los ecos del silencio''. The novel ''Pancha'' is one of her best-known works. Alcibiades González Delvalle
Alcibiades González Delvalle (born 20 July 1936) is a Paraguayan journalist, playwright, essayist, and novelist. He won the Paraguayan National Prize for Literature (Paraguay), National Prize for Literature in 2013 with his novel ''Un viento negro''. In 2016 he was named a member of the Academia Paraguaya de la Lengua Española, Paraguayan Academy of the Spanish Language. Renée Ferrer de Arréllaga (born 19 May 1944) is a contemporary Paraguayan poet and novelist. She is Secretary General of the Board of Governors of the twenty-member Academia Paraguaya de la Lengua Española. Her novel ''Los nudos del silencio'' (The knots of silence) has been translated into French, Italian, and English. Rubén Bareiro Saguier (January 22, 1930 – March 25, 2014) was a Paraguayan writer, poet and diplomat. Early life Rubén Bareiro Saguier was born and grew up in Villeta, Paraguay.
