National Parks And Wildlife Act 1972
Protected areas of South Australia consists of protected areas located within South Australia and its immediate onshore waters and which are managed by South Australian Government agencies. As of March 2018, South Australia contains 359 separate protected areas declared under the ''National Parks and Wildlife Act 1972'', the ''Crown Land Management Act 2009'' and the ''Wilderness Protection Act 1992'' which have a total land area of or 21.5% of the state's area. Great Australian Bight Marine National Park
Great Australian Bight Marine National Park is a marine protected area in the Australian state of South Australia located west of the state capital of Adelaide city centre, Adelaide. It consists of two sections occupying the ocean immediately adjoining the coastline up to a distance of and extending from the Western Australia border in the west to a place known as the Tchalingaby Sandhills in the east. The gap between the two sections is also a protected area known as the Great Australian Bight Marine Park Whale Sanctuary which was proclaimed on 22 June 1995 under the ''Fisheries Act 1982 (SA)''. Glenthorne National Park–Ityamaiitpinna Yarta
Glenthorne National Park–Ityamaiitpinna Yarta is a national park in the southern Adelaide suburb of O'Halloran Hill, south of the city centre. The park opened to the public in November 2020, and O'Halloran Hill Recreation Park is in the process of transitioning to become part of it. It includes the nearby Glenthorne Estate, and will connect with other parks and parcels of land in Adelaide's south to form the Glenthorne Precinct. Gawler Ranges National Park
Gawler Ranges National Park is a protected area lying north-west of Adelaide in the northern Eyre Peninsula of South Australia. It is known for its spectacular rock formations. History The national park originated as the Paney Station pastoral lease, which was acquired in 2000 by the South Australian Government with assistance from the Australian Government. In 2001 some of the adjacent Scrubby Peak Station was acquired and added to the national park. Access The national park is north of Wudinna, north-east of Minnipa and is accessible using high ground clearance two wheel drive vehicles via the gravel roads from Kimba, Wudinna or Minnipa. Camping is permissible and encouraged at several campgrounds. Although some have toilets, there are minimal other facilities and visitors are encouraged to take adequate food, water, fuel and firewood with them. Flinders Chase National Park (formerly Flinders Chase) is a protected area in the Australian state of South Australia located at the west end of Kangaroo Island about west-south west of the state capital of Adelaide and west of the municipal seat of Kingscote. Coorong National Park
Coorong National Park is a protected area located in South Australia about south-east of Adelaide, that predominantly covers a coastal lagoon ecosystem officially known as The Coorong and the Younghusband Peninsula on the Coorong's southern side. The western end of the Coorong lagoon is at the Murray Mouth near Hindmarsh Island and the Sir Richard Peninsula, and it extends about south-eastwards. Road access is from Meningie. The beach on the coastal side of the peninsula, the longest in Australia, is also commonly called The Coorong. Coffin Bay National Park is a protected area in on the Eyre Peninsula of South Australia, Australia, which is located about 301 km west of Adelaide, Australia, Adelaide and about 46 km west of Port Lincoln, South Australia, Port Lincoln. Cleland National Park
Cleland National Park, formerly Cleland Conservation Park, is a protected area located in the Adelaide Hills, South Australia about south-east of the Adelaide city centre. It conserves a significant area of natural bushland on the Adelaide Hills face, including Mount Lofty Summit and Waterfall Gully. Formerly a conservation park (Australia), conservation park, Cleland was combined with the bordering Eurilla Conservation Park in November 2021 when it was upgraded to the status of national park.
