National Museum In Kielce
National Museum in Kielce ( pl, Muzeum Narodowe w Kielcach) is a museum located in the Palace of the Kraków Bishops, Kielce, Poland. Its collections include valuable exhibits in the field of painting, handicraft, folk art, archeology, and natural sciences. History The precise date the museum opened is unknown as the founding documents are lost, however the first item (a petrified tree) was written into the inventory book on 10 October 1908 by Szymon Tadeusz Włoszek (1843-1933), a veteran of the January Uprising. This date is taken as the founding date of the institution. In 1922 the museum made an attempt to acquire the Palace of the Kraków Bishops in Kielce, however, this was unsuccessful. During the Second World War, the museum did not operate and many items were plundered by the invaders, however Edmund Massalski managed to hide some of the collection and the museum resumed operations immediately after the way. Roman Kramsztyk
Roman Kramsztyk (18 August 1885 – 6 August 1942) was a Polish realist painter of Jewish descent in the interwar period. He was shot dead in the Warsaw Ghetto in 1942. His work was also part of the painting event in the art competition at the 1928 Summer Olympics. Life Kramsztyk was born in Warsaw as the son of the physician Julian Kramsztyk (1851–1925) and grandson of reform rabbi Izaak Kramsztyk (1814–1899). He studied painting at Kraków Academy of Fine Arts under Józef Mehoffer and in Warsaw at the private art school of Adolf Eduard Herstein, and from 1904 at the Academy of Fine Arts, Munich under Johann Caspar Herterich. Between 1910 and 1914 he settled in Paris, during the First World War he lived in Warsaw and continued his study of painting with Adolf Eduard Herstein. Wiślica
Wiślica is a town in Busko County, Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship, in south-central Poland. It is the seat of the gmina (administrative district) called Gmina Wiślica. It lies on the Nida River, approximately south of Busko-Zdrój and south of the regional capital Kielce. In 2016 the town had a population of 503. It was the smallest town in Poland in 2018. History Wiślica is an ancient settlement and has played an important role in Polish history. The town was founded more than 1000 years ago, close to the important commercial routes, running from Kraków to Sandomierz. Stefan Żeromski ( ; 14 October 1864 – 20 November 1925) was a Polish novelist and dramatist belonging to the Young Poland movement at the turn of the 20th century. He was called the "conscience of Polish literature". He also wrote under the pen names Maurycy Zych, Józef Katerla, and Stefan Iksmoreż. He was nominated four times for the Nobel Prize in Literature. Jan Skrzetuski is a fictional character created by Polish author Henryk Sienkiewicz in the novel ''With Fire and Sword''. Kazimierz (; la, Casimiria; yi, קוזמיר, Kuzimyr) is a historical district of Kraków and Kraków Old Town, Poland. From its inception in the 14th century to the early 19th century, Kazimierz was an independent city, a royal city of the Crown of the Polish Kingdom, located south of the Old Town of Kraków, separated from it by a branch of the Vistula river. Władysław Czachórski
Władysław Czachórski (22 September 1850 – 13 January 1911) was a Polish painter in the Academic style. Biography Czachorski was born in Lublin. In 1866 he attended the School of Fine Arts in Warsaw and had Rafał Hadziewicz as a teacher. He then spent one year at the Dresden Academy, and from there went to the Munich Academy (1869–1873) others who studied there at the same time included: Hermann Anschütz, Karl von Piloty, and Alexander Wagner. He received Magna Cum Laude (the Grand Silver Medal) from Munich, and proceeded to travel to France, Italy and Poland after his graduation. He held membership of the Berlin Academy and was also organizer and judge of international exhibitions, even though he had his home in Munich. He was awarded the Order of St. Michael in 1893. Maurycy Gottlieb
Maurycy Gottlieb ; 21/28 February 1856 – 17 July 1879) was a Polish realist painter of the Romantic period. Considered one of the most talented students of Jan Matejko, Gottllieb died at the age of 23. Career Gottlieb was born in Drohobycz (then in Galicia in Austrian Poland, now in western Ukraine) to a wealthy, Yiddish and Polish-speaking Orthodox Jewish family. He was one of eleven children born to Fanya ('' née'' Tigerman) and Isaac Gottlieb. He was introduced to painting in Lemberg by Michał Godlewski. At fifteen, he enrolled at the Vienna Fine Arts Academy for three years. In 1873 he went to Kraków to study under Jan Matejko and became close friends with Jacek Malczewski.
