The National Council of the Magistracy ( es, Consejo Nacional de la Magistratura) is the Dominican constitutional body responsible for appointing judges of the Supreme Court, the Constitutional Court and the Superior Electoral Court of the Dominican Republic. The NCM is also the organ called to conduct performance evaluations of judges of the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court of the Dominican Republic (known by its acronym, SCJ) is the highest court existing in the Republic and is, therefore, the head of the judiciary in the country. The Supreme Court is the final court empowered to administer justice, i.e. that its judgments can not be appealed, although they may eventually be reviewed by the same court through the use of re consideration. Danilo Medina Sánchez ( : born 10 November 1951) is a Dominican politician who was President of the Dominican Republic from 2012 to 2020. Reinaldo de las Mercedes Pared Pérez (25 September 1956 – 29 October 2021) was a Dominican politician.
