National Association Of Unions In The Textile Trade
The National Association of Unions in the Textile Trade (NAUTT) was a trade union federation in the United Kingdom. The federation was founded in 1916. Despite its name, it included unions in only two areas of the textile trade: the wool industry, and textile finishing. Most aspects of the cotton industry were instead covered by the Northern Counties Textile Trades Federation. While it had a large number of members, most were small unions, often local in scope, and the bulk of the membership came from the dyers' union. A national trade union center (or national center or central) is a federation or confederation of trade unions in a country. Nearly every country in the world has a national trade union center, and many have more than one. The Northern Counties Textile Trades Federation was a trade union federation in northern England. History The federation was founded in 1906. By 1907, it brought together unions representing 126,700 members. National Union Of Dyers, Bleachers And Textile Workers
The National Union of Dyers, Bleachers and Textile Workers (NUDBTW) was a trade union in the United Kingdom. History The union was founded in 1936 with the merger of the National Union of Textile Workers, which was the main union representing workers in the woollen and worsted industries, the Amalgamated Society of Dyers, Finishers and Kindred Trades, and the Operative Bleachers, Dyers and Finishers Association, which represented workers in Lancashire. The NUDBTW represented a membership of 85,500 in 1939, of whom 25,500 were women. Dyeing and finishing were predominantly male trades, and thus had a greater union presence than other sections of the British textile industry. Pattern Weavers' Society
The Pattern Weavers' Society was a small trade union representing textile workers in the United Kingdom. During the 1920s, workers employed in weaving patterned material were represented by the National Union of Textile Workers. However, with a trade depression starting at the end of the decade, employers were looking to cut wages, and the pattern weavers believed that they would have a stronger bargaining position if they were represented separately from workers they felt to be lower skilled.Arthur Marsh, Victoria Ryan and John B. The Transport and General Workers' Union (TGWU or T&G) was one of the largest general trade unions in the United Kingdom and Ireland – where it was known as the Amalgamated Transport and General Workers' Union (ATGWU) to differentiate itself from the Irish Transport and General Workers' Union – with 900,000 members (and was once the largest trade union in the world). Trade involves the transfer of goods and services from one person or entity to another, often in exchange for money. Economists refer to a system or network that allows trade as a market.
