Natalie Plane
Natalie Plane (born 4 August 1996) is an Australian rules footballer playing for the St Kilda Football Club in the AFL Women's competition (AFLW). She was drafted by Carlton with the club's eleventh selection and the eighty third overall in the 2016 AFL Women's draft. She made her debut in Round 1, 2017 AFL Women's season, 2017, in the club and the league's inaugural match at Princes Park (stadium), Ikon Park against . She suffered a season-ending ankle injury in the match however, and would not return to AFLW football that year. It was revealed Plane signed a one-year contract extension with on 10 June 2021. Plane also plays cricket, representing Melbourne Renegades (WBBL), Melbourne Renegades in the Women's Big Bash League in the 2016–17 Women's Big Bash League season, 2016–17 season. Victorian Women's Football League
The Victorian Women's Football League (VWFL) was the oldest and largest Australian rules football league for women in the world, consisting of 47 clubs from Victoria (Australia), Victoria, Australia, across seven divisions and a total of over 1,000 players. The VWFL complied with the laws of Australian football. The Sherrin, official ball, a Sherrin, used by the VWFL, was a custom-made size 4.5 ball. History The Victorian Women's Football League was formed in 1981 with four teams competing at open level. In 1995, Sal Rees caused controversy when she nominated for the 1995 AFL Draft: the nomination was subsequently voided, with the AFL amending its Draft rules to prevent any repeat of this incident. The VWFL grew quickly, increasing dramatically the number of players and participating teams with a Division 3 added in 2001.
