Nagercoil Town railway station (station code: NJT) is an NSG–5 category Indian railway station in Thiruvananthapuram railway division of Southern Railway zone. It is a railway station located on the Kanyakumari district in Tamil Nadu, India. It is on the Thiruvananthapuram–Nagercoil–Kanyakumari railway line between the Aaloor railway station and the Nagercoil Junction railway station. Nineteen trains halt on this station which has one platform. The station is in proximity to Vadasery bus stand and Vetturnimadam. Thiruvananthapuram Railway Division
Thiruvananthapuram Railway Division (TVC) is one of the six administrative divisions of the Southern Railway, Indian Railways. It has its headquarters at Thiruvananthapuram, the capital city of the state of Kerala, India. Thiruvananthapuram Division was formed on 2 October 1979 which serves the eight districts of southern part of the Kerala, Kanniyakumari district and some parts of Tirunelveli District in Tamil Nadu. With 104 stations in its territorial jurisdiction, it is the fourth largest out of six divisions in Southern Railway. It is the southernmost railway division of India and manages 625 km of route track and 108 railway stations in the states of Kerala and Tamil Nadu. Kanyakumari District
Kanniyakumari district is one of the 38 districts in Tamil Nadu state and the southernmost district in mainland India. It stands second in terms of population density among the districts of Tamil Nadu. It is also the richest district in Tamil Nadu in terms of per capita income, and also tops the state in Human Development Index (HDI), literacy, and education. Thiruvananthapuram–Nagercoil–Kanyakumari Line
The Thiruvananthapuram–Nagercoil–Kanyakumari line is a line in the Southern Railway zone of Indian Railways. It connects the cities Thiruvananthapuram and Nagercoil. The railway opened on 15 April 1979. This is the southernmost section of Indian Railways. The terminus of the line is at Kanyakumari railway station. Nagercoil Junction Railway Station
Nagercoil Junction railway station (station code: NCJ) is a railway junction in Kanyakumari district in the state of Tamil Nadu. Background Trivandrum–Nagercoil–Kanniyakumari and Tirunelveli–Nagercoil construction projects were inaugurated by the then Prime minister Mrs.Indira Gandhi on 6 September 1972. The Trivandrum–Nagercoil–Kanniyakumari line was opened on 15 April 1979. Nagercoil Junction became operational on 15 April 1979. The rail-link to Kanniyakumari was established only in 1979, mainly because establishing a rail line through the district posed some challenges for the rail department and took a lot of efforts, especially the western line.
