Nadlik Beyakhad Ner (Light A Candle)
Israel participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2002 in Tallinn. Sarit Hadad represented Israel with the song "Light a Candle" (Hebrew: "Nadlik Beyakhad Ner"). Before Eurovision Internal selection On 26 November 2001, IBA announced that Sarit Hadad was selected by a special committee as the Israeli representative for the Eurovision Song Contest 2002. Among artists considered by the selection committee, Gaia and Zehava Ben were highly considered before Hadad was ultimately selected. Among the members of the committee were Aviva Avidan, Yigal Hared, Izhar Cohen, Haim Uliel, Amos Oren, Nava Achiron, Tal Gordon and Avihu Medina. Four songs were submitted by Hadad, which were subsequently evaluated by the committee that selected the song on 24 December 2001. "Nadlik Beyakhad Ner" was selected as the song that Hadad would represent Israel with in Tallinn and was revealed on 7 January 2002. At Eurovision Israel scored 37 points, finishing 12th. Sarit Hadad ( he, שרית חדד, ) (born on September 20, 1978) is an Israeli singer. In October 2009, the Israeli Music TV Channel (Channel 24) named Hadad "best female singer of the 2000s". She represented Israel at the Eurovision Song Contest 2002, in Tallinn, with the song " Light a Candle". Biography Sarah Hudadatov (Hebrew: ) (later Sarit Hadad) was born in the town of Afula, Israel to Mountain Jewish parents who had made aliyah from Dagestan in 1976. Svika Pick (, 3 October 1949 – 14 August 2022), born Henryk Pick, was an Israeli pop singer, songwriter, composer, and television personality. Zehava Ben (born Zehava Benisti; he, זהבה בן; November 8, 1968) is an Israeli singer. Ben is one of the most popular Israeli female vocalists in the Mizrahi music genre; the Middle Eastern-style of singing rising from Israel's Mizrahi Jewish population, dominating Israeli music in the 1990s and popular ever since. Izhar Cohen ( he, יזהר כהן; born March 13, 1951) is an Israeli singer who won the 1978 Eurovision Song Contest. Biography Izhar Cohen was born in Tel Aviv, Israel, and raised in Givatayim, to a family of singers of Yemenite-Jewish descent – Shlomo Cohen, Sarah Cohen, and Hofni, Pini, and Vardina Cohen. Singing and stage career Cohen started to sing when he was a child and joined his father in his performances. At 18, Cohen joined the IDF's Nachal entertainment troupe. Ehud Manor (Hebrew: אהוד מנור; born Ehud Weiner; July 13, 1941 – April 12, 2005) was an Israeli lyricist, translator, poet and radio and TV personality. He is widely considered to have been Israel's most prolific lyricist of all time, having written or translated over 1,000 songs.
