NE-HI
NE-HI was a four-piece rock band from Chicago. NE-HI formed to score a friend’s film in the summer of 2013, the foursome—made up of Alex Otake, James Weir, Jason Balla and Mikey Wells—recognized the chemistry between its four members and chose to continue making music. Since then, the foursome has toured the Midwest and East Coast, building a reputation as a promising young American band. Known for their energetic stage presence, NE-HI has opened for Car Seat Headrest and the American Wrestlers. NE-HI's self-titled debut album was released in 2014 on Manic Static. In the Chicago Tribune, Greg Kot listed ''Ne-Hi'' as #4 in his top ten local indie albums list of the year. Despite being a fairly new band, sites like Noisey, Stereogum, and Paste have taken notice and consider the band to be "the best of what's next". Dehd is an American three-piece indie rock band from Chicago formed in 2015. The band consists of members Emily Kempf (b. September 3, 1984), Jason Balla (b. March 25, 1990), and Eric McGrady (b. June 25, 1988). History The band formed in 2015. ''Dehd'' and ''Fire of Love'' EP In 2016, Dehd released a nine track self-titled album, via the label Maximum Pelt. This was followed by a six track EP, ''Fire of Love'' in 2017, via Infinity Cat Recordings. Greg Kot
Greg Kot (born March 3, 1957) is an American music journalist and author. From 1990 until 2020, Kot was the rock music critic at the ''Chicago Tribune'', where he covered popular music and reported on music-related social, political and business issues. Kot co-hosts the radio program ''Sound Opinions'', which introduces itself as "the world's only rock 'n' roll talk show", nationally syndicated through Chicago Public Radio, WBEZ. A native of Syracuse, New York, Kot graduated from Marquette University. Kot started his career at the Quad City Times in Davenport, Iowa in June 1978 and then joined the Chicago Tribune in 1980. Chad VanGaalen (born 1977) is a Canadian musician and artist from Calgary, Alberta. The Drums
The Drums are an American indie pop band from New York City. Formation Founding members Jonathan (Jonny) Pierce and Jacob Graham became friends as children, having met at Bible camp at age 11 or 12. Some years later, they formed a short-lived electro-pop group initially named Goat Explosion, eventually renamed Elkland. They released one album, ''Golden'', in 2005 and garnered interest with the single "Apart". In 2008, Pierce and Graham came up with the concept for The Drums, and Pierce moved to Kissimmee, Florida, where Graham resided at the time, so that they could more readily collaborate. They then moved to Brooklyn, in the spring of 2009, where drummer Connor Hanwick and former Elkland guitarist Adam Kessler joined the band to complete their live sound.
