NCAA Women's Swimming And Diving Championships
The NCAA Women's Division I Swimming and Diving Championships is an annual college athletics, college championship in the United States. The meet is typically held on the second-to-last weekend (Thursday-Saturday) in March, and consists of individual and relay events for female swimmers and divers at NCAA Division I, Division I schools. The swimming-portion of the meet takes place in a 25-yard pool, except in 2000 and 2004 which swam in a 25-meter course. History Swimming was one of twelve women's sports added to the NCAA championship program for the 1981-82 school year, as the NCAA engaged in battle with the Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (AIAW) for sole governance of women's collegiate sports. Virginia Cavaliers
The Virginia Cavaliers, also known as ''Wahoos'' or ''Hoos'', are the athletic teams representing the University of Virginia, located in Charlottesville. The Cavaliers compete at the NCAA Division I level ( FBS for football), in the Atlantic Coast Conference since 1953. Known simply as Virginia or UVA in sports media, the athletics program has twice won the Capital One Cup for men's sports (in 2015 and 2019) after leading the nation in overall athletic excellence in those years. The Cavaliers have regularly placed among the nation's Top 5 athletics programs. Virginia leads the ACC with 22 NCAA Championships in men's sports. Texas Longhorns Women's Swimming And Diving
The Texas Longhorns swimming and diving program represents The University of Texas at Austin in NCAA Division I intercollegiate men's and women's swimming and diving competition. The Longhorns currently compete in the Big 12 Conference. The first swim team at the University of Texas was created and developed under Tex Robertson. Robertson was the head coach of the team between 1936 and 1943 and between 1946 and 1950. During that period he led the Longhorns to 13 Southwest Conference championships. In 1979, Eddie Reese became the head coach of the men's swimming team. Under Reese, the Texas men's team has won 15 NCAA championships, the most among all programs, and 41 consecutive conference championships. Lee And Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center
The Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center is an aquatics facility at the University of Texas at Austin in the USA. It is home to the university's swimming and diving teams, a variety of university-offered swimming and scuba-diving classes, as well as Longhorn Aquatics, a youth program. The facility also hosts the annual State high school championships in swimming and diving, run by the University Interscholastic League. The building is named after UT graduate and longtime benefactor Joe Jamail and his wife Lee. Before the Jamail's name was placed on the facility in the mid-1990s, the building was known simply as the "Texas Swimming Center". The view of the Texas State Capitol from the building's terrace became one of the Capitol View Corridors protected under state and local law from obstruction by tall buildings in 1983.
