NCAA Division I Men's Ice Hockey Scoring Champion
The NCAA Scoring Champion is the player who scored the most points in official NCAA games over the course of the season. Because the NCAA does not have a set standard number of games that each team must play, the scoring champion skews towards some teams rather than others (The Ivy League teams, for instance, do not start their seasons until almost a month after the official start of the NCAA season). Additionally, points scored in both conference and league tournament games are included, slanting the scoring titles towards players on teams that perform the best in the postseason. Ice Hockey
Ice hockey (or simply hockey) is a team sport played on ice skates, usually on an ice skating rink with lines and markings specific to the sport. It belongs to a family of sports called hockey. Clarkson Golden Knights Men's Ice Hockey
The Clarkson Golden Knights men's ice hockey team is a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I college ice hockey program that represents Clarkson University. The Golden Knights have been a member of ECAC Hockey since 1962, and play their home games at Cheel Arena in Potsdam, New York. While Clarkson lore has it that their first hockey game was played in 1916 against the Hogansburg Indians, the team was established as a hockey club in 1921, led by captain Bill Johnson. The Knights won their opening encounter against Alexandria Bay, 6–4, and finished the year with a 2–1 record, their first of many winning seasons. Ed Rowe
Edward James 'Eddie' Rowe was a Canadian ice hockey center who was a two-time All-American for Clarkson and led the team in scoring during its undefeated season in 1955–56. Career Rowe was a star player for his junior team in Cornwall, helping the team win both the city and regional championship in 1953 while collecting both the scoring title and MVP trophy. After the season he began attending Clarkson College of Technology in nearby Potsdam, New York and spent a year on the freshman team. He joined the varsity squad in his second year and instantly provided a scoring punch, leading the team with 29 goals just 21 games. In his junior season Rowe became the focal point of the offense and the team ran roughshod over their opponents. Rowe finished with 65 points in 23 games to lead the NCAA in scoring but it was Clarkson's 23–0 record that was really astounding. Harvard Crimson Men's Ice Hockey
The Harvard Crimson men's ice hockey team is a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I college ice hockey program that represents Harvard University. The Crimson are a member of ECAC Hockey. They play at the Bright Hockey Center in Boston, Massachusetts. The Crimson hockey team is one of the oldest college ice hockey teams in the United States, having played their first game on January 19, 1898, in a 0–6 loss to Brown. Bill Cleary (ice Hockey)
William John Cleary Jr. (born August 19, 1934) is an American former ice hockey player, coach (ice hockey), coach, and athletic administrator. He played on the United States men's national ice hockey team, U.S. National Team that won the Ice hockey at the 1960 Winter Olympics, 1960 Winter Olympics gold medal, and is a notable Belmont Hill alumnus. Minnesota Golden Gophers Men's Ice Hockey
The Minnesota Golden Gophers men's ice hockey team is the college ice hockey team at the Twin Cities campus of the University of Minnesota. They are members of the Big Ten Conference and compete in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I ice hockey. The Golden Gophers have won five NCAA national championships, in 1974, 1976, 1979, 2002 and 2003. The team also shared the 1929 National Intercollegiate Athletic Association championship with Yale. and captured the national Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) championship for amateur hockey in 1940. The Gophers are currently coached by Bob Motzko. The centre (or center in the United States) in ice hockey is a forward (hockey), forward position of a player whose primary Hockey rink#Zones, zone of play is the middle of the ice, away from the sideboards. Centres have more flexibility in their positioning and therefore often end up covering more ice surface than any other player. John Mayasich
John Edward Mayasich (born May 22, 1933) is an American former ice hockey player of Croatian descent. He was a member of the U.S. ice hockey team that won a silver medal at the 1956 Winter Olympics and a gold medal at the 1960 Winter Olympics. He also played for Team USA at the IIHF World Championships in 1958, 1961, 1962 (when he was voted best defenseman), 1966 and 1969. While attending the University of Minnesota, Mayasich set the NCAA tournament record for most points scored in a game with eight against Michigan in 1954. Mayasich won the Western Collegiate Hockey Association scoring title in 1954 and 1955 and was an All-American three years in a row at his university. Mayasich was inducted into the United States Hockey Hall of Fame in 1976 and the Wisconsin Hockey Hall of Fame in 1989.
