NASCAR Video Games
NASCAR, the most popular motorsport in the United States, has worked with video game developers to design several video games. In 2003, EA Sports received an exclusive console license to produce NASCAR games, eliminating Papyrus and Hasbro Interactive as competitors. In May 2009, iRacing.com received a license to run NASCAR-sanctioned online racing starting in 2010. In June 2009 at the E3 Gaming Expo, NASCAR was revealed to be a part of the '' Gran Turismo'' series for the first time in ''Gran Turismo 5'' for the PlayStation 3. The National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing, LLC (NASCAR) is an American auto racing sanctioning and operating company that is best known for stock car racing. The privately owned company was founded by Bill France Sr. in 1948, and his son, Jim France, has been the CEO since August 2018. The company is headquartered in Daytona Beach, Florida. The (N64) is a home video game console developed by Nintendo. The successor to the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, it was released on June 23, 1996, in Japan, on September 29, 1996, in North America, and on March 1, 1997, in Europe and Australia. It was the last major home console to use cartridges as its primary storage format until the Nintendo Switch in 2017. It competed primarily with the Sony PlayStation and the Sega Saturn. NASCAR 07
''NASCAR 07'' is the tenth installment of the EA Sports' NASCAR video game series. It was developed by EA Tiburon and released on September 29, 2006, for the PlayStation 2 and PlayStation Portable and on November 14, 2006, for the Xbox. This was the last ''NASCAR'' edition to be released exclusively on sixth generation consoles. The NTSC game cover features Elliott Sadler, driver of the #38 M&M's Ford Fusion. The PAL region game cover features Matt Kenseth's #17 DeWalt Power Tools Ford Fusion. This game is the first since ''NASCAR 2001'' not to include a subtitle in the name. ''NASCAR SimRacing'', abbreviated ''NSR'', is a computer racing simulator developed by EA Tiburon and released on February 15, 2005, by EA Sports for Microsoft Windows. The game includes all of the 2004 NEXTEL Cup Series drivers (including Jeremy Mayfield, who was absent from '' NASCAR 2005: Chase for the Cup'') and tracks except Pocono Raceway, which was also absent from ''NASCAR 2005: Chase for the Cup'', due to failed negotiations with licensing. Chase For The Cup
The NASCAR playoffs is a championship playoff system used in NASCAR's three national series. The system was founded as 'The Chase for the Championship' on January 21, 2004, and was used exclusively in the NASCAR Cup Series from 2004 to 2015. Since 2016, NASCAR has also used the playoff system in the Xfinity Series and Camping World Truck Series. The NASCAR Cup Series version of the playoff system is often called the Chase for the Cup, and includes sixteen drivers that compete for the championship in the final ten races of the Cup Series. The first nine races are divided into three rounds, with four participants being eliminated after each round. The Xfinity Series Chase format is competed over seven races with twelve drivers. ''NASCAR Rumble'' is a racing video game created by Electronic Arts for the PlayStation. Players race through 18 different courses set in six different areas collecting powerups to aid them. The game is a departure from many NASCAR games, as it is an arcade racer featuring various tracks and ''Mario Kart''-esque powerups. A non-NASCAR licensed sequel was made for the PlayStation 2, called ''Rumble Racing''.
