Cox's Bazar link road–Laboni moure highway is a national highway located in the district of Cox's Bazar, Chittagong Division, Bangladesh. Background The starting point of this road is the Link Road, from where this road runs to the west and the Cox's Bazar–Teknaf road to the south-east. This highway is the busiest road in Cox's Bazar which starts from Link Road and extends through Kolatoli, the main suburb of the city, to Jhinuk market of Laboni Point. This road with a length of 10.968 km has two lane which is 7.30 meters wide. This highway is part of the proposed Mirsarai–Teknaf Marine Drive. Expansion In 2018, a proposal was sent to the Planning Commission to upgrade the highway to four lanes. After several meetings on the project that year, it was finalized. On 19 February 2019, Obaidul Quader, the minister of road transport and bridges, announced that the tender for the project would soon be called. Cox's Bazar
Cox's Bazar (; bn, কক্সবাজার, Kôksbajar; ) is a city, fishing port, tourism centre, and district headquarters in Southeastern Bangladesh. It is located south of the city of Chittagong. Cox's Bazar is also known by the name ''Panowa,'' which translates literally as "yellow flower". Another old name was "Palongkee". The city covers an area of with 27 mahallas and 9 wards and as of 2011 had a population of 265,500. Cox's Bazar is connected by road and air with Chittagong. Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) () is the road transport regulatory agency of Bangladesh. History Bangladesh Road Transport Authority was established under section 2A of the Motor Vehicle Ordinance of 1983 and the subsequent 1987 amendment. It has functioned since January 1988. Kolatoli Square
Kolatoli Square (also known as Dolphin Square and Shark Square) is a place in Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh. It can be reached from the capital Dhaka by taking the N110 highway from the N1. It spans 170 meters from the Dolphin fountain to shore of Cox's Bazar Beach. It is the entrance to the city for tourists. Cox's Bazar–Teknaf Marine Drive starts from here which leads to Sabrang Union in Teknaf. A shark sculpture was installed here in 2010. But as it is known as dolphin sculpture, it creates confusion among tourists. Besides, seeing the shark sculpture in Kolatoli, some people think that there are sharks in the sea water and refrain from bathing there.
