Münster (Central Bavarian: ''Minschda am Leech'') is a municipality in the district of Donau-Ries in Bavaria in Germany. Geography Münster is located between Rain and Thierhaupten. The village is separated in a lower and a higher part, because it's built on the Lechrain. Central Bavarian
Central Bavarian form a subgroup of Bavarian dialects in large parts of Austria and the German state of Bavaria along the Danube river, on the northern side of the Eastern Alps. They are spoken in the ' Old Bavarian' regions of Upper Bavaria (with Munich), Lower Bavaria and in the adjacent parts of the Upper Palatinate region around Regensburg, in Upper and Lower Austria, in Vienna (see Viennese German), in the state of Salzburg, as well as in the northern and eastern parts of Styria and Burgenland. It also serves as the basis for Austrian German. Differences There are noticeable differences in the language within the group, but changes occur along a west-east dialect continuum on both sides of the historic border of the Bavarian stem duchy with the later Duchy of Austria. Donau-Ries
Donau-Ries (''Danube-Ries'') is a ''Landkreis'' (district) in Swabia, Bavaria, Germany. It is bounded by (from the north and clockwise) the districts of Ansbach, Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen, Eichstätt, Neuburg-Schrobenhausen, Aichach-Friedberg, Augsburg and Dillingen, and by the state of Baden-Württemberg (districts of Heidenheim and Ostalbkreis). History From Palaeolithic times on the Nördlinger Ries was a very attractive site for human settlement. Rain (also: ''Rain (Lech)'') is a Town#Germany, town in the Donau-Ries district, in Bavaria, Germany. It is situated on the river Lech (river), Lech, close to its confluence with the Danube, 11 km east of Donauwörth. Rain is on the B16 road and served by the Ingolstadt–Neuoffingen railway (part of the Danube Valley Railway—''Donautalbahn''), both of which run between Ulm and Regensburg. The earliest reference to Rain is in a document of the Niederschönenfeld monastery dated 4 July 1257, wherein it is described as a ''"civitas nostra"'' or ducal town. Thierhaupten is a market town in south-central Germany in the district of Augsburg (district) in the Swabia administrative region of Bavaria, and is located at the Lech Valley. Lechrain is the name of an informally defined region of Germany extending southwards from Augsburg towards the foothills of the Alps along the Lech river, mainly on the east bank. It forms a boundary region between Bavaria and Swabia. The Lechrainer dialect has traces of Middle High German. Geography The name "Lechrain" includes the Old High German "rein", indicating a borderland, in this case between Bavaria and Swabia. Lech (river)
The Lech (, ''Licca'') is a river in Austria and Germany. It is a right tributary of the Danube in length with a drainage basin of . Its average discharge at the mouth is . Its source is located in the Austrian state of Vorarlberg, where the river rises from lake Formarinsee in the Alps at an altitude of . It flows in a north-north-easterly direction and crosses the German border, forming the Lechfall, a waterfall; afterwards the river enters a narrow gorge (the Lechschlucht). Leaving the Alps, it enters the plains of the Allgäu at Füssen at an elevation of in the German state of Bavaria, where it used to be the location of the boundary with Swabia.
