Mónica De Miranda
Mónica de Miranda (born Porto, 1976) is a Portuguese visual artist, photographer, filmmaker, and researcher of Angolan ancestry who works on postcolonial issues of geography, history, and subjectivity mostly related to Africa and its diaspora. Her mediums include photography, mixed media and video. De Miranda first became known for her photographic documentation of the ruins of modern hotels in post-war Angola, and of its sociopolitical significance. Her photographic series, videos, short films, and installations have been internationally exhibited at art ''biennales'', galleries, and museums, some of which keep her work in their permanent art collections. Her work has been reviewed in specialized art sources. Miranda was born in Porto and is based in Lisbon since 2009. Berardo Collection Museum
The Berardo Collection Museum (in Portuguese: Museu Colecção Berardo) was a museum of modern art, modern and contemporary art in Santa Maria de Belém, Belém, a district of Lisbon, Portugal. It was replaced by the Conteporary Art Museum - Centro Cultural de Belém in January 2023. History In 2006, after 10 years of negotiations, José Berardo signed an agreement with the Portuguese government to loan art from his collection on a long-term basis to the Centro Cultural de Belém in Lisbon. Under the partnership agreement the Portuguese state incurs the costs of displaying Berardo’s collection. The art holdings themselves are owned and managed by a company known as the Berardo Collection Association. The museum was formally initiated as the ''Foundation of Modern and Contemporary Art'' on August 9, 2006 (Decree-Law 164/2006). African Photography Encounters
African Photography Encounters (french: Rencontres Africaines de la Photographie) is a biennial exhibition in Bamako, Mali, held since 1994. The exhibition, featuring exhibits by contemporary African photographers, is spread over several Bamako cultural centers, including the National Museum, the National Library, the Modibo Keïta memorial, and the District Museum. The exhibition also features colloquia and film showings. The most recent biennial took place in 2017. It is jointly run by the government of Mali and the Institut Français. Cascais () is a town and municipality in the Lisbon District of Portugal, located on the Portuguese Riviera. The municipality has a total of 214,158 inhabitants in an area of 97.40 km2.
