Márton Vas
Márton Vas (born March 2, 1980) is a Hungarian former professional ice hockey defenceman. He was a member of the Hungarian national team. His brother, János Vas, is also a professional ice hockey player and member of the Hungarian national team. Career Vas, who is Jewish, made his senior debut at the age of 15 for his hometown club Dunaferr SE and a year later already celebrated his first Hungarian championship success. The forward got a chance to try himself in the overseas in 1997. First he moved to the United States to play for Flagstaff Mountaineers in the Western States Hockey League, where he won the title right in his first year. Vas started the next season by Canadian club Hawkesbury Hawks, with them he again went triumphant, winning the Central Canada Hockey League, however, failed to progress to the national final after finishing only second in the Fred Page Cup. Defenceman
Defence or defense (in American English) in ice hockey is a player position that is primarily responsible for preventing the opposing team from Goal (ice hockey), scoring. They are often referred to as defencemen, D, D-men or blueliners (the latter a reference to the blue line in ice hockey which represents the boundary of the offensive zone; defencemen generally position themselves along the line to keep the puck in the zone). János Vas (born 29 January 1984) is a professional Hungarian ice hockey forward currently playing for DVTK Jegesmedvék of the Erste Liga. Ligue Magnus
The Ligue Magnus, currently known as Synerglace Ligue Magnus for sponsorship reasons, is the top men's division of the French ice hockey pyramid, established in 1906. The league operated under a variety of names before taking that of its championship trophy, the Magnus Cup, in 2004. The trophy was in turn named for Frenchman and IIHF founder Louis Magnus. Format 12 teams play a 44-game regular season. The schedule is fully balanced and there are no geographic conferences. Regulation wins are worth 3 points, as per international rules. The top 8 teams qualify for the Magnus Cup playoffs, with all series contested in a best-of-seven format. Viktor Szélig
Viktor Szélig (born September 22, 1975) is a Hungarian former professional ice hockey defenceman. He was inducted into the IIHF Hall of Fame in 2023, as a recipient of the Torriani Award. Career Szélig began his career with Dunaújvárosi Acélbikák, Dunaferr SE in the OB I bajnoksag in the 1994-95 season. He played with Dunaferr in the OB I bajnoksag, and the Interliga (ice hockey), Interliga, until he joined Diables Rouges de Briançon in 2006. Szelig has played with Briancon for the last eight years. During his international career, Szelig has participated in two IIHF European Junior Championships, three IIHF World U20 Championship, and seventeen IIHF World Championships since 1993. Szélig was recognized with the Torriani Award from the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) for his career in international ice hockey. The award also inducted him into the IIHF Hall of Fame. The Fred Page Cup is a championship ice hockey trophy, won by a tournament conducted by the Canadian Junior Hockey League. The award is given to the winner of a round-robin and playoff between the Bogart Cup champions of the Central Canada Hockey League, the Kent Cup champions of the Maritime Junior Hockey League, La Coupe NAPA Champions of the Quebec Junior Hockey League, and a pre-determined host team.
