Mário Gil Andrade Fernandes (born 25 April 1982) is a Portuguese basketball player who has most notably played for Benfica, having also represented his local club CAB Madeira, AAC Coimbra, Swedish side Jämtland Basket, Spanish sides Balneario de Archena and CB Plasencia, and Ovarense. He measures 1.74 meters and plays as a point guard. Portuguese Basketball League Cup
The Portuguese Basketball League Cup (Taça da Liga) is a competition for Portuguese teams that play in LPB. It was played by the clubs of the former LCB, which was a professional league. After the LCB folded in 2008, the League Cup ended as well. EuroBasket 2007
The 2007 FIBA European Championship, commonly called FIBA EuroBasket 2007, was the 35th FIBA EuroBasket regional basketball championship held by FIBA Europe, which also served as Europe qualifier for the 2008 Summer Olympics, giving a berth to the champion and runner-up teams (or to the third-placed team in case Spain should reach the final). António Pratas Trophy
The Troféu António Pratas (English: ''António Pratas Trophy'') is an annual cup competition for Portuguese basketball teams organized by the Portuguese Basketball Federation. Created in 2007 to honour António Pratas, its first edition was only open to Proliga clubs. A year later, it expanded to include teams from the Liga Portuguesa de Basquetebol and has since established itself as a "curtain-raiser" for the season. Played in early October in two different levels, Proliga and LPB, each winner receives a trophy for their respective competition. After the inaugural season won by Benfica, its second had six winners in the three different regions. Its third year was a one-off edition were both leagues played together. The Liga Portuguesa de Basquetebol ( en, Portuguese Basketball League), also known as Liga Betclic for sponsorship reasons, is the top men's professional club basketball league in Portugal. The point guard (PG), also called the one or the point, is one of the five Basketball positions, positions in a regulation basketball game. A point guard has perhaps the most specialized role of any position. Point guards are expected to run the team's offense by controlling the ball and making sure that it gets to the right player at the right time.
