MÁV Class V43
The MÁV Class V43 is a Hungarian electric locomotive with a box-like appearance. It was meant to replace the MÁV Class V40 and MÁV Class V60, as well as the widespread Class 424 steam locomotives. A total of 379 locomotives were built between 1963 and 1982. The first seven prototype members of the class were ordered in 1960 by the Hungarian administration. to the "''Groupement 50Hz''" (50Hz/50 Cycles Group). After those 7 first units built in Essen, the subsequent 372 ones were built under licence in Hungary by ''Ganz-MÁVAG'' (mechanical parts) and ''Ganz Villamossági Mũvek'' (electrical parts) in Budapest. Electric Locomotive
An electric locomotive is a locomotive powered by electricity from overhead lines, a third rail or on-board energy storage such as a battery or a supercapacitor. Locomotives with on-board fuelled prime movers, such as diesel engines or gas turbines, are classed as diesel-electric or gas turbine-electric and not as electric locomotives, because the electric generator/motor combination serves only as a power transmission system. Electric locomotives benefit from the high efficiency of electric motors, often above 90% (not including the inefficiency of generating the electricity). Additional efficiency can be gained from regenerative braking, which allows kinetic energy to be recovered during braking to put power back on the line. Vectron (locomotive)
The Vectron is a locomotive series made by Siemens Mobility, introduced at the 2010 InnoTrans trade fair in four prototype versions: diesel, multi-system, and both AC and DC electric power. The diesel version has been replaced in 2018 by a dual mode locomotive which is powered by electricity on electrified sections of the track and can be switched to diesel mode on non-electrified sections. The Vectron series is reconfigurable and modular, with a Bo'Bo' wheel arrangement, and is intended as the successor to the EuroSprinter family of locomotives. TRAXX
Alstom Traxx (sold as Bombardier TRAXX before 2021) is a modular product platform of mainline diesel-electric and electric locomotives produced originally by Bombardier Transportation and later Alstom, which was built in both freight and passenger variants. The first version was a dual-voltage AC locomotive built for German railways from the year 2000. Later types included DC versions, as well as quadruple-voltage machines, able to operate on most European electrification schemes: 1.5/3.0 kV DC and 15/25 kV AC. The family was expanded in 2006 to include diesel-powered versions. SNCF Class BB 9400
The SNCF Class BB 9400 was an electric locomotive of the SNCF. It was used to haul L’Aquilon, a high-speed passenger train between Paris, Dijon and Lyon-Perrache. The locomotives were given the nickname "Vespa", as they were very lightweight. They were one of a series of locomotives called the "BB Jacquemin", as they used bogies designed by engineer André Jacquemin.
