Adam Mytton
Sir Adam Mytton (born before 1498 – 1561) was an English Member of Parliament and county sheriff. He was born the son of Thomas Mytton of Shrewsbury, Shropshire. He inherited the family home and control of the family clothing business and became a member of the Shropshire Drapers' Company. He became very active in local administration in the county as a coroner, auditor, bailiff, alderman and steward. In 1523 he was elected Member of Parliament for Shrewsbury and was re-elected in 1529, 1536 and 1542. In 1532 he was appointed escheator for Shropshire and a J.P. for several local counties. In 1543 he was also appointed to the Council of the Marches for life and knighted in 1547. He served as Sheriff of Radnorshire for 1546-47 and 1552–53 and Sheriff of Shropshire for 1553-54 He died in 1561. He had married twice: firstly Alice, the daughter of Mr Bowdler and widow of Thomas Withyford, and with whom he had two daughters and secondly Catherine. He bequeathed his property to h ...

John Mytton
John "Mad Jack" Mytton (30 September 1796 – 29 March 1834) was a British eccentric and rake of the Regency period who was briefly a Tory Member of Parliament. Early life John Mytton was born on 30 September 1796, the son of John Mytton and Sarah Harriet. His family were Shropshire squires with a lineage that stretched back some 500 years. His father died at the age of 30, when Jack was two years old, and he inherited the family seat of Halston Hall, Whittington, near Oswestry, which was worth £60,000 (£4.3 million as of 2006), as well as an annual income of £10,000 (more than £716,000 as of 2006) from rental and agricultural assets generated by estates of more than at Dinas Mawddwy and in Shropshire. Mytton was sent to Westminster School, but was expelled after one year for fighting a master. He was then sent to Harrow School, from which he was also expelled after three terms. Richard Mytton
Richard Mytton (1500/1501–1591) was an English politician. Biography Mytton was the son of William Mytton, of Shrewsbury, and Cecily, the daughter of Henry Delves of Doddington. The Myttons were an influential family in the locality. His father died in 1513, when Richard Mytton was twelve or thirteen years old. It is thought he became a ward of the 10th Earl of Arundel. He was a member of the Inner Temple. He was Member of Parliament for Devizes in 1529; Shropshire in 1539, 1545, March 1553, October 1553 and November 1554; and MP for Shrewsbury in 1542 and April 1554. He was appointed High Sheriff of Shropshire for 1543–44 and 1559–60 and High Sheriff of Merionethshire for 1546–47 and 1553–54. He was married three times, in 1517 a settlement was arranged to Anne, daughter of Edward Grey of Enville; to a daughter of Jenkin Piggott of Rhuddlan; in 1513 to Eleanor, daughter of George Harborne and widow of Richard Beeston of Shrewsbury. Sarah Mytton Maury (1 November 1801 – 21 September 1849) was an English author, born in Liverpool to Bridget Tobin and William Hughes. Sarah had a sister named Elizabeth Hughes who lived in the United States. Thomas Mytton
Major General Thomas Mytton, also spelt Mitton, 1597 to November 1656, was a lawyer from Oswestry who served in the Parliamentarian army during the Wars of the Three Kingdoms and as MP for Shropshire in the First Protectorate Parliament. Part of a long-established local family, Mytton was one of the few members of the mostly Royalist Shropshire gentry to support Parliament. Despite his lack of military experience, he proved a determined and competent officer, eventually rising to command operations in North Wales. In December 1647 he was also appointed Vice-admiral, North Wales. After helping to suppress a rising in North Wales during the 1648 Second English Civil War, he resigned his military posts and was appointed MP in 1654. He died in London and was buried in the churchyard of St Chad's Church, Shrewsbury on 29 November.
