According to Australian musicologist, Ian McFarlane, ''Dear Children'' "represented a turning point in the band's career". The album peaked at number 22 on the Kent Music Report in June 1987. It was Minogue's first studio album in six years following 1997's ''Girl''. In November 2001, Minogue released the single, " Who Do You Love Now?", a collaboration with Riva.
