This is a list of television specials of the Japanese media franchise ''Lupin III'', based on the manga series by Monkey Punch that debuted in 1967. In a tradition that began in 1989 with '' Bye Bye, Lady Liberty'', every year since until 2013 featured a new 90 minute ''Lupin III'' anime television special that aired on NTV at 9:03 on Friday evening. Since then, they have been released irregularly. Each television special features its own plot, but the general theme centers on the adventures of Arsène Lupin III, the grandson of Arsène Lupin, the gentleman thief of Maurice Leblanc's series of novels. He is joined by Daisuke Jigen, crack-shot and Lupin's closest ally; Fujiko Mine, the femme fatale and Lupin's love interest who works against Lupin more often than with him; and Goemon Ishikawa XIII, a master swordsman and descendant of Ishikawa Goemon, the legendary Japanese bandit. Koichi Zenigata
, usually called and formerly Heiji Zenigata VII, is a fictional character created by Monkey Punch for his manga series ''Lupin III'', which debuted in ''Weekly Manga Action'' on August 10, 1967. He is named after the famous fictional Japanese detective Zenigata Heiji, of whom he is a descendant. He is the star of the live action ''Inspector Zenigata'' TV series and portrayed by Ryohei Suzuki, making it the second ''Lupin III''-based property not to star Lupin as the protagonist. Creation Inspector Zenigata was conceived as Lupin's arch rival to create a "human Tom and Jerry". Monkey Punch said that he believed the ''Lupin III'' story could never end but that if he had to, both Zenigata and Lupin would have to end as equals. , sometimes also referred to as ''To Hell With Nostradamus,'' is a 1995 Japanese animated film. It is the fourth theatrical feature film in the ''Lupin III'' franchise, and the first time Lupin's voice is provided by Kanichi Kurita, following the death of Yasuo Yamada; a tribute to him appears after the credits in the original Japanese release. The North American release was done by Funimation; it was released individually and later made a part of the "Final Haul" box set. For reasons unknown Funimation cut the tribute to Yasuo Yamada out of their release. Plot In 1999, Lupin the Third and Daisuke Jigen steal a diamond and hide it in a doll. Inspector Zenigata attempts to catch the two, but they escape on an airplane. While on the plane, a girl named Julia steals Lupin's doll. Lupin chases her, leading him to Fujiko Mine, who is chaperoning her. Lupin tries to bargain with Fujiko in an effort to get the doll back, but their conversation is interrupted when the plane is hijacked. ...
