Myrtle Bank, South Australia
Myrtle Bank is a suburb of Adelaide, South Australia in the City of Unley. The suburb is named after a property near the foothills built in 1842 by William Sanders (1801–1880), who arrived in South Australia in 1838. He named the premises 'Myrtle Bank', because his friend James Gall of Trinity living in Edinburgh had a fine property of the same name. The property passed through the hands of Capt. Myrtle Bank is a rural locality in the local government area of Launceston, in the Northern region of Tasmania. It is located about north-east of the city of Launceston. The 2016 census determined a population of 40 for the state suburb of Myrtle Bank. History The locality was gazetted in 1963. Geography The St Patricks River forms part of the south-eastern boundary. Road infrastructure The Tasman Highway The Tasman Highway (or A3) is a highway in Tasmania, Australia. This is a list of Registered Buildings and Conservation Areas of the Isle of Man. It includes buildings and structures in the Isle of Man designated by Isle of Man's Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture (DEFA) "as having special architectural or historical interest". Over 250 buildings and structures are listed, and 275 more have been identified as having potential for listing. It also lists the 21 Conservation Areas, historic districts" which protect "period"-type architecture, quality of building materials, relationships of enclosures and open spaces, and other aspects of the look and feel of historic buildings and areas. Ongoing enforcement and registration of buildings is administered by a Planning and Building Control Directorate, within DEFA, and is guided by a planning policy document on conservation of the historic environment. Myrtle Bank (Natchez, Mississippi)
Myrtle Bank is a historic house in Natchez, Mississippi, USA. History Sir William Dunbar surveyed the land in the 18th century. It was granted to George Overarker, a planter, in 1795. Overarker, who also owned Hawthorne Place and Hope Farm, built Myrtle Bank prior to 1818. By 1835, Alfred Cochran and his wife Eliza, who was William Dunbar's great-granddaughter, purchased the house. Two decades later, in 1856, it was purchased by Benjamin Wade, a planter. Wade leased it to The Natchez Young Ladies Institute, a girl's boarding school, until the outset of the American Civil War in 1861. The house remained in the Wade family until the 1870s. The house was restored by a new owner in 1957.
