The Myers-JDC-Brookdale Institute (MJB) is a Jerusalem-based applied research institute on social policy and human services, serving Israel, the Jewish world, and the international community. History and development In 1974, the JDC-Brookdale Institute of Gerontology was established with a grant from the Brookdale Foundation as a partnership between the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (AJJDC) and the Government of Israel. Patient participation is a trend that arose in answer to medical paternalism. Informed consent is a process where patients make decisions informed by the advice of medical professionals. In recent years, the term "patient participation" has been used in many different contexts. Ethiopian Jews in Israel are immigrants and descendants of the immigrants from the Beta Israel communities in Ethiopia who now reside in Israel.
