Myanmar Maritime University
Myanmar Maritime University (MMU) ( my, မြန်မာနိုင်ငံ ရေကြောင်းပညာ တက္ကသိုလ် ), located in Thanlyin in the outskirts of Yangon, is the premier university of maritime education in Myanmar. MMU offers 5-year bachelor's degree programs. Starting from 2012, MMU, administered by the Ministry of Transportation, offers two-year post-graduate diplomas in various marine and naval disciplines. In 2007, the school had about 1,800 graduate students, pursuing international STCW-95-standards compliant maritime education. Thanlyin
Thanlyin (; or ; mnw, သေၚ်, ; formerly Syriam) is a major port city of Myanmar, located across Bago River from the city of Yangon. Thanlyin Township comprises 17 quarters and 28 village tracts. It is home to the largest port in the country, Thilawa port. History Thanlyin first came to prominence in the 15th century as the main port city of the Hanthawaddy Kingdom, replacing a silted up Bago port. In 1539, the city became part of the Kingdom of Taungoo. In 1599, the city fell to the Rakhine forces led by the Portuguese mercenary Filipe de Brito e Nicote, who was made governor of the city. Marine propulsion is the mechanism or system used to generate thrust to move a watercraft through water. While paddles and sails are still used on some smaller boats, most modern ships are propelled by mechanical systems consisting of an electric motor or internal combustion engine driving a propeller, or less frequently, in pump-jets, an impeller. Defence Services Technological Academy
The Defence Services Technological Academy (DSTA) ( my, တပ်မတော် နည်းပညာ တက္ကသိုလ်, ), located in Pyin-Oo-Lwin, Myanmar, is the premier technological university of the Myanmar Armed Forces. One of the most selective universities in the country, the academy offers various Bachelor of Engineering degrees to male cadets only. Upon graduation, most DSTA cadets are commissioned as Engineering Officers with the rank of Lieutenant in one of the three branches of Burmese armed forces--army, navy, and air force. Myanmar Language

Charlie Than ( my, ချာလီသန်း; born 1950) is the Current Union Minister for Ministry of Industry of Myanmar. He is an engineer, retired rector and guest professor. He also served as chairman of Myanmar Engineering Council and patron of Federation of Myanmar Engineering Societies. He was appointed as Union Minister for Industry by SAC Chairman Min Aung Hlaing.
