The Myanmar Economic Corporation ( my, မြန်မာ့စီးပွားရေး ကော်ပိုရေးရှင်း; abbreviated MEC) is one of the two major conglomerates and holding companies operated by the Burmese military, the "Tatmadaw." The Ministry of Defence ( my, ကာကွယ်ရေးဝန်ကြီးဌာန; abbreviated MoD) is a government ministry in Myanmar (Burma), responsible for the country's national security and the armed forces (the Tatmadaw). The ministry has the largest share of the national budget among all government ministries, with a budget of $2.289 billion USD in 2013. As part of the ''Burma Sanctions Program'', the United States government prohibits its citizens from doing business with the Ministry of Defence of Myanmar or its affiliates. Moe Myint Tun
Lieutenant-General Moe Myint Tun ( my, မိုးမြင့်ထွန်း, born 24 May 1968; also spelt Moe Myint Htun) is a Burmese military officer who served as a member of Myanmar's State Administration Council. He was appointed on 2 February 2021, in the aftermath of the 2021 Myanmar coup d'état. Early life and education Moe Myint Tun was born on 24 May 1968. He graduated from the Defence Services Academy in 1989 as part of the 30th intake. Career Moe Myint Tun formerly served as army chief of staff and commander of the special operations bureau which oversee operations from the capital, Naypyidaw. From 2015 to 2017, he served as the commander of the Naypyidaw Command, which encompasses Naypyidaw Union Territory.
