''My Wife's Family'' is a 1941 UK, British domestic comedy film directed by Walter C. Mycroft and starring Charles Clapham, John Warwick, David Tomlinson and Patricia Roc. The film is notable as one of five film versions based on the popular My Wife's Family (play), stage farce of the same name by Fred Duprez. There was a ''The Wife's Family, previous British version'' in 1931; a Swedish version ''Mother-in-Law's Coming'', in 1932; a 1933 Finnish film ''Voi meitä! Anoppi tulee''; and a British My Wife's Family (1956 film), remake in 1956. ''My Wife's Family'' is a 1956 British comedy film directed by Gilbert Gunn and starring Ronald Shiner as Doc Knott, Ted Ray, Greta Gynt, Diane Hart and Robertson Hare. It was a remake of the 1941 British film '' My Wife's Family'', and is the third British film of the stage farce of the same name by actor Fred Duprez. Davina Whitehouse (born Eileen Eliza Smith; 16 December 1912 – 25 December 2002), also known by the stage name Davina Craig before her marriage, was an English-born actress, acclaimed for her roles on stage and film in her native land in the 1930s and early 1940s and in New Zealand from the 1950s where she continued her career as an actress. Leslie Fuller (9 October 1888 – 24 April 1948) was a British comedy film actor. Early life Albert Leslie Fuller was born in 1888 at 14 Pollard Row, Bethnal Green, London.Some sources wrongly give his birthplace as Margate, as he had a lifelong association with that town. His father was Albert Fuller and his mother was Amelia Lipley. In 1891 his father was running a coffee house, but by 1901 he was a self-employed printer. Chili Bouchier (born Dorothy Irene Boucher; 12 September 1909 – 9 September 1999) was an English film actress who achieved success during the silent film era, and went on to many screen appearances with the advent of sound films, before progressing to theatre later in her career. Career Dorothy Irene Boucher was the daughter of an assessor for a painting and decorating firm. As a child, her initial ambition was to be a dancer and she enrolled at a ballet school. She made her first appearance as a child dancer at a charity performance. She became a typist on leaving school and later a model at Harrod's, where her brother worked. Margaret Eileen Bryan (3 January 1916 – 12 January 1996) was an English film and stage actress, born in Birmingham, England. She appeared in many films, including most notably as the screen wife of George Formby in the comedy film ''Turned Out Nice Again'' (1941). She married cinematographer Wilkie Cooper, with whom she had three sons. Biography Peggy Bryan attended Windermere College with her first employment position as an elocution teacher at Highclare College located in Sutton Coldfield.
