My Sin
''My Sin'' is a 1931 American pre-Code drama film directed by George Abbott, and written by Abbott, Owen Davis, Adelaide Heilbron. It was adapted from the play, ''Her Past'', written by Frederick J. Jackson. The film stars Tallulah Bankhead, Fredric March, Harry Davenport, Scott Kolk, and Lily Cahill. The film was released on October 3, 1931, by Paramount Pictures. Plot In Panama, infamous nightclub hostess Carlotta (Tallulah Bankhead) kills, in a struggle, a man in self-defence and is put on trial for murder. Her defence counsel is Dick Grady (Fredric March), a lawyer who has become an alcoholic. When he proves Carlotta's innocence, however, Dick regains respect and new employment through Roger Metcalf (Harry Davenport). He also manages to save Carlotta from committing suicide. He lends her money, and they both dream up a new identity for her as "Ann Trevor," and she moves to New York. George Abbott
George Francis Abbott (June 25, 1887 – January 31, 1995) was an American theatre producer, director, playwright, screenwriter, film director and producer whose career spanned eight decades. Early years Abbott was born in Forestville, New York, to George Burwell Abbott (May 1858 Erie County, New York – February 4, 1942 Hamburg, New York) and Hannah May McLaury (1869 – June 20, 1940 Hamburg, New York). He later moved to the city of Salamanca, which twice elected his father mayor. In 1898, his family moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming, where he attended Kearney Military Academy. Within a few years, his family returned to New York, and he graduated from Hamburg High School in 1907. Anne Sutherland (actress)
Anne Sutherland (March 1, 1867 – June 22, 1942) was an American stage and screen actress who began acting in the 1880s. She began as a juvenile playing in a HMS Pinafore production. She appeared on stage in the 1880s-1890s with many greats of the period such as Henry E. Dixey in ''Adonis'' (1883), Lydia Thompson in ''Oxygen'' (1886), Nat C. Goodwin in ''The Nominee'' (1891), Georgia Cayvan in ''The City of Pleasure'' (1896), Joseph Jefferson in ''Rip Van Winkle'' and Mrs. Leslie Carter in ''Zaza'' (1899). ''The House That Shadows Built'' (1931) is a feature compilation film from Paramount Pictures, made to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the studio's founding in 1912. The film was a promotional film for exhibitors and never had a regular theatrical release.
