''My Reputation'' is a 1946 American romantic drama film directed by Curtis Bernhardt. Barbara Stanwyck portrays an upper-class widow whose romance with an army officer causes trouble for her gossiping friends, domineering mother and young sons. Catherine Turney wrote the script, an adaptation of Clare Jaynes' 1942 novel ''Instruct My Sorrows''. Stanwyck's costumes were designed by Edith Head. Plot When her beloved husband dies after a long illness, Jessica "Jess" Drummond is comforted by the executor of her husband's estate lawyer, Frank Everett, a longtime family friend who later shows an interest in dating her. Lake Forest is a city located in Lake County, Illinois, United States. Per the 2020 census, the population was 19,367. Edna Cecil Cunningham (August 2, 1888 – April 17, 1959) was an American film and stage actress, singer, and comedienne. Early years Cunningham started her working life as a switchboard operator in a commerce bank and did some sittings as a photographer's model. Mary Servoss (June 2, 1888 – November 20, 1968) was an American stage and screen actress. Her main career was centered on the Broadway stage. She was born to Carlos A. Servoss and Mary (née Baker) in Chicago. She made her stage debut in 1905 in a stock company playing a small part in ''Lorna Doone''. In 1922, she played Portia to David Warfield's Shylock in ''The Merchant of Venice'', and she appeared in the 1929 play '' Street Scene'', in the 1931 play ''Counsellor-at-Law'' starring Paul Muni, and as Queen Gertrude in ''Hamlet'' opposite both Raymond Massey (1931) and Leslie Howard (1936). Leona Maricle
Leona Maricle (December 23, 1905 – March 25, 1988) was an American stage and film actress known for "distinctive characterizations of colorful ladies." Maricle was a graduate of the College of Industrial Arts. Her Broadway debut came in ''The Trial of Mary Dugan'' (1927). Her final appearance on Broadway was in ''Never Too Late'' (1962). In the mid-1930s, she and her husband were active in summer stock theatre in Skowhegan, Maine. Her husband Louis Jean Heydt was a character actor in films from the 1930s through the 1950s. They divorced. She did not remarry. On March 25, 1988, Maricle died of an apparent heart attack in her apartment in Manhattan. Her obituary in ''The New York Times'' gave her age as 81. She was survived by a cousin, Marijane Maricle of Manhattan, and a niece, Joan Hickman of Lake Charles, Louisiana. Esther Dale (November 10, 1885 – July 23, 1961) was an American actress of the stage and screen. Early years Dale was born in Beaufort, South Carolina. She attended Leland and Gray Seminary in Townshend, Vermont. In Berlin, Germany, she studied music and enjoyed a successful career as a singer of ''lieder'' on the concert stage. Her singing career included appearances with the New York Philharmonic and the Boston Symphony Orchestra. At one point, Dale was head of Smith College's vocal department.
