My Name Is Harry Worth
''My Name Is Harry Worth'' is a British comedy television series which originally aired on ITV in a series of eight episodes in 1974. It starred Harry Worth and Lally Bowers as his landlady Mrs Maybury. Worth plays a mild-mannered, well meaning man who ends up in a series of unlikely adventures. Three of the episodes were scripted by the writing team of George Layton and Jonathan Lynn.Walker p.23 The series was made at Teddington Studios, and the opening credits were shot outside the nearby Strawberry Hill railway station. George Layton
George Layton (born 2 March 1943) is an English actor, director, screenwriter and author best known for three television roles – junior doctor Paul Collier in the comedy series ''Doctor in the House (TV series), Doctor in the House'' and its sequels ''Doctor at Large (TV series), Doctor at Large'', ''Doctor in Charge'' ''and Doctor at the Top'', that of Bombardier 'Solly' Solomons in the first two series of ''It Ain't Half Hot Mum'', and as Des the mechanic in early episodes of ''Minder (TV series), Minder''. Glyn Houston
Glyn Houston (23 October 1925 – 30 June 2019) was a Welsh actor best known for his television work. He was the younger brother of film actor Donald Houston. Early life Glyndwr Desmond Houston was born at 10 Thomas Street, Tonypandy, Glamorgan, Wales. He served in the army during the Second World War, and was briefly a stand-up comedian performing for soldiers during the war. He made his first film appearance in ''The Blue Lamp'' in 1950. Career In the 1970s Houston played Lord Peter Wimsey's valet Bunter opposite Ian Carmichael in television adaptations of several of Dorothy Sayers tales. John Clegg (actor)
John Walter Lawrence Clegg (born 9 July 1934) is an Indian-born English actor, best known for playing the part of Gunner 'Paderewski' Graham in the BBC sitcom ''It Ain't Half Hot Mum''. Early life and career Clegg was born on 9 July 1934 in Murree, British India (present-day Pakistan) to English parents. When he and his parents arrived back in England, Clegg became a student at RADA. After leaving RADA Clegg joined the Watford Palace Theatre Company, where he met Jimmy Perry, who would go on to cast Clegg in the role for which he is best known. It was there that he also met many of his future co-stars, including Michael Knowles, Donald Hewlett, and Mavis Pugh (whom he married in 1959). Anthony Chinn
Anthony Chinn (1930 – 22 October 2000) was a Guyanese actor based in England who appeared in over 50 films and television series throughout a career which spanned more than four decades. Career and death Chinn was born in Georgetown, Guyana. He made his film début in the United Kingdom in 1957. He moved to London in 1961 and for the next several years appeared in British TV series such as '' The Avengers'', ''Danger Man'', ''The Protectors'' and ''Steptoe and Son'', as well as two episodes of Gerry Anderson's UFO. John Bindon
John Dennis Arthur Bindon (4 October 1943 – 10 October 1993) was an English actor and bodyguard who had close links with the London underworld. The son of a London cab driver, Bindon was frequently in trouble as a youth for getting into fights, and spent two periods in borstal. He was spotted in a London pub by Ken Loach, who asked him to star in his film ''Poor Cow'' (1967). Other film and television productions followed, with Bindon sought after to play gangsters or tough police detectives. Tim Barrett (actor)
Tim Barrett (31 May 1929 – 20 August 1990) was an English actor best remembered for playing Malcolm Harris, Terry Medford's boss, in several series of the classic British sitcom ''Terry and June''. Career Barrett took the role of Malcolm Harris in ''Terry and June'' after the original actor Terence Alexander became unavailable to return for production to begin on the Christmas special, for he had just begun playing Charlie Hungerford in '' Bergerac''. Norman Mitchell
Norman Mitchell Driver (27 August 1918 – 19 March 2001), known professionally as Norman Mitchell, was an English television, stage and film actor. Born in Sheffield, West Riding of Yorkshire, his father was a mining engineer and his mother a concert singer. He attended Carterknowle Grammar School and the University of Sheffield, before appearing in repertory theatre and with the Royal Shakespeare Company. During World War II he served with the Royal Army Medical Corps. He then made many television appearances and appeared in over sixty films. Mitchell was married to actress Pauline Mitchell until her death in 1992. He was the father of Jacqueline Mitchell and actor Christopher Mitchell, known for his role in the BBC sitcom ''It Ain't Half Hot Mum''. His son Christopher predeceased him by a month. Derek Newark
Derek John Newark (8 June 1933 – 11 August 1998) was an English actor in television, film and theatre. Career Newark began his working life as a soldier in the Coldstream Guards before joining the Royal Artillery. However, he wanted to become an actor, and left the Army to study at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. John Lyons (born 14 September 1943) is an English stage and screen actor. He played Detective Sergeant George Toolan in the long-running UK detective drama, ''A Touch of Frost'' (1992–2010) alongside David Jason. Early life Lyons was born in Whitechapel in 1943, the son of a dock worker and an office cleaner, and the youngest of three children. Aged six, he would help the local milkman deliver milk to the neighbouring block of flats before school. Leaving school at fifteen, Lyons became a labourer for British Rail at Paddington Station. An aspiring footballer, every Sunday morning, he and several hundred others would play football on Hackney Marshes.
