''My Friend Flicka'' is a western television series about a boy and his horse Flicka – a Swedish name meaning "little girl." The Western is a genre set in the American frontier and commonly associated with folk tales of the Western United States, particularly the Southwestern United States, as well as Northern Mexico and Western Canada. Claude Akins
Claude Aubrey Akins (May 25, 1926 – January 27, 1994) was an American character actor with a long career on stage, screen, and television. He was best known as Sheriff Lobo on the 1979–1981 television series '' B.J. and the Bear'', and later ''The Misadventures of Sheriff Lobo'', a spin-off series. Early years Akins was born in Nelson, Georgia, and grew up in Bedford, Indiana, the son of Maude and Ernest Akins. Film reference works said he was born in 1918, making his age at death 75; however, Akins' son said his father was 67 at the time of his death, and he is listed as Aubrey Akins in the 1940 Census, age 13. Denver Dell Pyle (May 11, 1920 – December 25, 1997) was an American film and television actor and director. He was well known for a number of TV roles from the 1960s through the 1980s, including his portrayal of Briscoe Darling Jr. in several episodes of ''The Andy Griffith Show,'' as Jesse Duke in '' The Dukes of Hazzard'' from 1979 to 1985, as Mad Jack in the NBC television series '' The Life and Times of Grizzly Adams'', and as the titular character's father, Buck Webb, in CBS's '' The Doris Day Show''. Wanda Tuchock (March 20, 1898 – February 10, 1985) was an American advertising copywriter, screenwriter, director, and producer during the early 20th century. She was credited with writing for over thirty films, and was one of the at least three women in the 1930s to be credited as a director on a Hollywood film. Early life Tuchock was born on March 20, 1898 in Pueblo, Colorado. She attended the University of California at Los Angeles. Career Tuchock began her career as an advertising copy editor. In 1927, at the age of 30, she entered the silent film industry. She only had one silent film credit; she was "one of the few women who began her career in the silent era and was able to maintain her career in Hollywood during the early sound years". Muriel Roy Bolton (March 19, 1908 – March 4, 1983) was an American film and television writer active in the 1940s through the 1960s. Biography Born Muriel Roy in Chicago, Illinois, to Camille Roy and Amanda Anderson, she attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign before she moved to Hollywood. In 1945, Bolton worked for Signet Films; she was paid $3000. Her credits include a number of Henry Aldrich films, in addition to dozens of episodes of CBS's '' The Millionaire''. She also wrote a number of plays including ''Angels 'Round My Bed.'' In 1947, she published a novel titled ''The Golden Porcupine'', a historical romance set in 15th-century France.
